* Work with migrant students, the district guidance office, and migrant parents to ensure that students interested in post-secondary education take appropriate placement tests and complete forms for admission, financial aid, and scholarships.
* Work with secondary team members to plan and organize at least two visits to post-secondary institutions for those students who are interested in participating in post-secondary education.
Responsibilities Pertaining to Interaction with Parents
* Meet personally with migrant parents for all students who fall into the priority for service group and communicate on a regular basis throughout the year to keep the parents apprised of their child's academic progress.
* Meet personally with migrant parents of students who do not fall into the PFS group at least once a year.
* Work to prepare at least one parent workshop or provide information about pertinent issues for secondary students to individual parents.
* Refer migrant parents as potential board members to parent coordinator.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Attend monthly in-service meetings and statewide meetings and conferences as requested.
* Complete weekly schedules and phone logs and submit to appropriate migrant education staff.
* When a migrant student's eligibility ends, coordinate with school personnel to ensure continuity of service.
* Assume any other migrant education program responsibilities, as assigned.

Johnson College is currently seeking a part-time Welding instructor. This position will include organizing and delivering class syllabi and objectives in a clear, concise manner; maintaining an organized and safe lab; ensuring training aids, tools, and equipment are maintained and prepared for use in the classroom and labs; keeping accurate records of student performance and making the timely submission of academic records; and providing students with timely feedback.
The ideal candidate should have the ability to speak confidently in front of a small crowd, a passion for recruiting into the skilled trades, and flexible work hours, including evening classes. All teaching positions require a minimum of 4-5 years of technical experience and/or an Associate's degree, preferred. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required for most positions.
A strong background in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) with a thorough understanding of GTAW principles and practices, along with hands-on experience in various welding applications.
The successful candidate will be proficient in machine set-up, including proper gas configuration, and capable of welding in all positions. Expertise in welding non-ferrous metals, such as stainless steel and aluminum, is essential. Applicants should also be comfortable working with a range of plate thicknesses- from 3/8" down to 18 gauge- and able to demonstrate open root welding techniques on plate.
Additional competencies include proficiency in cutting with both an oxygen/acetylene torch and a handheld plasma cutting machine. Strong practical skills will be complemented by the ability to work efficiently and safely in a shop environment.
Punctuality is essential; instructors must arrive 15 minutes prior to and remain 15 minutes after class time. Candidates should be prepared to stand for extended periods, possess basic computer skills, and be receptive to guidance and direction from the Program Director.
