PURPOSE
To meet the needs of exceptional children by providing services as required by State and Federal guidelines and Special Services manual.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The overall responsibility of the schoolpsychologist is to evaluate students with the effective use of psychological instruments in the proper situations; build and maintain positive, respectful interactions with students; serve as a consultant in regard to effective intervention processes; communicate effectively and appropriately with families and colleagues, building and maintaining positive and productive relationships with colleagues; and maintain confidentiality. This position serves as a resource for information regarding child and adolescent development and psychopathology and provides staff with information regarding governmental regulations and resources for students available through the school or district or external to the district.
Duties include creating and maintaining a testing center that is comfortable for students; the creation of standards of conduct for the testing center and the monitoring of students' behavior against those standards; establishing guidelines for referrals and for meetings; providing process details, supports and effective guidance in regard to special education referrals; and building and maintaining an effective and secure organizational system for records. In addition, the schoolpsychologist administers appropriate evaluation instruments to students that are reflective of the decisions of the evaluation team, ensuring that all procedures and safeguards are faithfully adhered to; prepares detailed student plans that are suitable for the student as determined by the team; develops suitable plans for students, and makes revisions in the plan or program when it is needed. This position will participate actively in school and district events and projects, in professional development based on an individual assessment of need; will display high standards of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality in interactions with colleagues, students and the public; and will advocate for students when needed. The schoolpsychologist understands and adheres to contract obligations, district and building policies.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with others: contributes to the development of a positive school climate;
Abide by the Code of Ethics for Idaho Professional Educators and the National Association of SchoolPsychologists Principles for Professional Ethics.
Compliance with the requirements of Idaho Code with regard to teacher and school nurse conduct, including but not limited to the manner in which suspected instances of child abuse or suspected student suicidal tendencies are addressed;
Adhere to confidentiality with regard to student information;
Attend faculty meeting and conferences as directed by the Building Principal and participation in in-services activities and other professional growth opportunities;
Establish and maintain good working habits including punctuality;
Implement the beliefs, mission statement, objectives and parameters of the District's strategic plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have 60 credit hour masters degree;
Must have 30 graduate credits subsequent to the masters degree;
Must have at least a 1,000 clock hour internship includ ing clinical practicum;
Must have certification as a schoolpsychologist and qualification for 80% state exceptional child program reim bursement;
Must have current Idaho certification (Pupil Personnel certificate endorsed for schoolpsychologist);
Must have proper certification, as required by the State of Idaho, for position assigned;
Must successfully be approved as a finalist through the district's screening process;
Must be capable of accomplishing identified Performance Responsibilities;
Must be able to communicate proficiently in English including both verbal and written communication with adults and students;
The ability to read and understand work related materials;
The ability to speak and communicate clearly in lessons to students as well as communications with peers, supervisors, patrons, and parents/guardians;
Must be able to accomplish simple mathematical concepts including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division;
The ability to observe and monitor student activities and conduct throughout the instructional day.

Who we are looking for:

II. Step 1

Step 2

The Superintendent shall meet with all parties involved, formulate a conclusion and respond in writing to the complainant within ten (10) business days.
Step 3
If the complainant remains unsatisfied, s/he may appeal through a signed written statement to the Board of Education within five (5) business days of his/her receipt of the Superintendent's response in step two. In an attempt to resolve the grievance, the Board of Education shall meet with the concerned parties and their representative within twenty (20) business days of the receipt of such an appeal. A copy of the Board's disposition of the appeal shall be sent to each concerned party within ten (10) business days of this meeting.
The District's Coordinator, on request, will provide a copy of the District's grievance procedure and investigate all complaints in accordance with this procedure.

These services may include: 1. Assisting with data-based decision making at various levels of need. This may encompass system-level or team-level problem-solving wherein different strengths and needs are identified, addressed, an evaluated using-appropriate and consistent research based methods and/or data. 2. Consultation, which is a cooperative problem-solving process in which the psychologist, upon request, works with parents and other professionals to gather information about and define a problem, develop and implement a solution, and evaluate its effectiveness. The process encompasses:
A. Working with parents to assist in understanding the learning and adjustment processes of children and referral to community and school resources as appropriate. May serve as liaison between the school, the family, and the selected community resource where therapeutic and/or academic services are provided.
B. Collaborating with teachers in the development and implementation of classroom strategies and interventions designed to facilitate student learning and to overcome learning and behavior disorders. Planning with school administrators regarding appropriate learning objectives for children, developmental and remedial programs for students in regular and special school programs, and the development of educational interventions.
C. Participation in Evaluation Report Team Meetings as mandated by law, and at other individual and team conferences, including Student Assistance Teams, as appropriate.
3. Collaboration with school administrators and teachers regarding school climate and classroom environment in relation to the impact of that environment on student learning and behavior. 4. Psycho-educational assessment to identify specific learning, developmental, emotional and behavioral problems. This generally includes case study evaluation, recommendations for educational strategies or placement, and periodic re-evaluations. 5. Completing Functional Behavioral Assessments as needed.
6. Psychological Counseling and other therapeutic techniques with children including the development of behavioral interventions in collaboration with other team members. 7. Participation in the developments of in-service training to district staff. 8. Participation in the design of research projects which may include: A. Defining the program needs of children in the local school district.
B. Ascertaining the validity and usefulness of psycho-educational tool and procedures.
C. Ascertaining the degree of behavioral change brought about through the provision of various types of psychological and educational services. 9. Documentation and record keeping required to fulfill above functions. 10. Related duties as assigned.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The person in this position is a positive, self-motivated, team oriented individual willing to meet the needs of our unique student population and surrounding community. This position provides the schoolpsychologist the opportunity to fill the broader role of a schoolpsychologist, with responsibilities beyond the traditional schoolpsychologist role of assessment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate and consult with administrators, teachers, community agencies, and school based teams (i.e. Student Support Team, IEP teams, etc.) to help meet students' academic, behavioral, and social/emotional needs.
Build positive relationships with guardians, and collaborate with them in order to provide the appropriate services needed to help their children (i.e. Parent education, in-school counseling and/or behavioral intervention, refer to outside agencies).
Work closely with outside providers to ensure seamless services and communication between school, agency, and guardians.
Provide individual and group counseling, primarily at the middle and high school level.
Demonstrate continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development.
Utilize evidence-based best practice in all aspects of work including pre-referral interventions, consultations and evaluations.
Participate in design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions with students experiencing academic and behavioral difficulty.
Administer, score, and analyze a variety of psycho-educational evaluations and/or supplemental assessments relevant to individual students. The average caseload for comprehensive evaluations is approximately 30-35 per year.
Use assessment results to assist evaluation teams in determining special education eligibility, as well as to identify and assess the learning, development, adjustment, functional capabilities, characteristics, needs of students, and the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment.
Use assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) to develop appropriate, research based interventions and programs.
Develop and help implement individual, group or systems level interventions to improve or resolve academic, social/emotional/behavioral, and mental health needs as they relate to educational progress. Provide support, instructions, technical assistance and ongoing monitoring of progress toward measurable, identified goals for students at each level.
Participate in yearly Child Find Screenings at the preschool level. Collaborate with teachers and parents regarding children's results and possible interventions and/or evaluations.
Provide crisis/suicide intervention services when needed across the district.
Report cases of suspected child abuse according to state law (Mandatory Reporter)
