Under limited supervision, the Security Officer provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel and assets at the assigned job site. Enforces safety measures, performs regular patrols of assigned premises, and responds to incidents based on established operational procedures. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but the company may identify other responsibilities of the position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum 18 years of age
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 2 years of prior security, military or law enforcement experience. Formal education or training (criminal justice, law enforcement, Police Officer's Standard Training, etc.) may substitute required experience.
* Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English
* Strong communication and customer service skills
* Must have reliable transportation to/from the work site. Driver's license preferred.
* Unarmed Security Officer License or able to obtain.
* Transportation Worker's Identification Card (TWIC) or able to obtain.
* As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Provide customer service to the client by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
* Understand and successfully execute post orders including enforcement of client and company policies, rules and regulations.
* May perform access control functions and verify individuals are authorized to enter the facility
* Process visitors and produce access badges.
* Operate gate traffic barriers to prevent unauthorized entry of vehicles
* Conduct screening/searches of vehicles and persons entering and exiting the facility.
* Monitor traffic and parking areas.
* Guard property against damage, fire, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry.
* Conduct regular and random patrols (by foot or vehicle) of buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure that they are properly secured.
* Display courteous, respectful and professional interactions with the public and customers.
* May operate and monitor CCTV equipment if appropriately trained and assigned.
* May be asked to perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters.
* Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
* Effectively and coherently communicate using a two-way radio or telephone.
* Interview people to detect infringements and to investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalism and accidents or incidents. Report irregularities to management.
* Write Daily Activity Reports and/or Incident Reports
* May assist management and law enforcement officials in emergency situations.
* Maintain high standards for work areas and appearance.
* Must comply with established dress code/uniform requirements.
* Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

Inspect all areas of the facility for safety and fire hazards. Make rounds through all building hallways, stairwells, trash rooms, restrooms and storage areas. Patrol campus grounds. Document findings and notify the Resident Services Administrator. Patrol secured areas to ensure all doors are appropriately locked/unlocked.
Immediately respond to all fire alarms. Appropriately contain fire until fire department arrives and assist department with moving residents or controlling crowds. Perform monthly inspection of fire extinguishers to ensure all equipment is in good working condition.
Immediately respond to all emergency situations in order to resolve any incident which could potentially harm personnel, residents and/or visitors. Call for outside assistance as needed.
Monitor parking practices of employees and visitors to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Escort visitors, residents, and personnel to vehicles as requested.
Deliver packages to residents' apartments.
Provide assistance to individuals having vehicular problems (e.g. frozen door locks, dead batteries, flat tires, etc.) as needed.
Monitor and promote compliance with facility policies such as solicitation, smoking and visiting hours.
Timely and accurately document all incidents and emergencies in departmental log.
Timely and accurately complete all shift reports and logs, activity log, gate log and any and all other control logs and reports as required in accordance with established guidelines.
Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures and requirements. Maintain compliance with all federal and state laws. Maintain compliance with all agency regulatory guidelines and requirements.
Work successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and training as required.

What you'll bring:
High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required. Minimum 2 years prior related work experience preferred. Previous experience in security and/or safety is preferred.
