Shermco Industries is accredited by NETA and has one of the largest field services divisions in the industry, representing many major manufacturers. We are looking for candidates with experience or aptitude for developing skills in the area of low and medium voltage variable frequency drives and soft starts. The ideal candidate is a factory-trained Drives Technician with automation experience who has been formally factory trained and certified by a major manufacturer for repair of low and medium-voltage Drive systems. This position is highly technical and hands on. It requires flexibility in critical thinking and troubleshooting as well as attention to detail in executing manufacturer recommended preventative maintenance. Responsibilities * This job does not report to our office. This position would be 100% in the field and reporting to customer sites in and around DFW area. There would be about 30% overnight travel expected. We would provide a company vehicle. * Must be able to work frequently with other NETA technicians on a wide variety of equipment. Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced Electric Motor Shop Mechanics to service and repair large motors and generators. Shermco is ISO certified, a member of EASA, AWEA, PEARL and is accredited by NETA, PEV, SKF & ANAB. Responsibilities Test, inspect, evaluate, dismantle, repair, and reassemble AC and DC electric motors, generators, and pumps. Disassemble and remove armature, stator or rotor from frame or stators. Examine coil connections for broken or defective wiring. Examine all parts for cracks, wear, rubbing, broken or out of tolerances for specific parameters. Remove bearings from shafts and/or housings. Examine bearings, shafts, and other moving parts for excessive wear of defects. Test coils, armatures, stators, rotors and field coils for continuity, shorts and grounds and insulation resistance Measure and record machined parts fits. Prepare parts for assembly. Assemble and test rotating machine for specified performance. Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The Senior Technician is a heavy equipment mechanic that specializes in the modernization and repairing of cranes. This position may perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and upgrades; as well as solving complex problems when the crane malfunctions. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently, including switchgear, circuit breaker, and relay calibration. Client Interaction: Maintain professional client relationships, addressing inquiries and providing expert support, including timely responses to emergency calls. Documentation: Keep detailed records of service activities, including reports, client feedback, and necessary product modifications. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement and innovation projects. Qualifications Requirements Preferred Education: Prefer an Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year program in Electrical Engineering or related field. Experience: Relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting is an asset. Technical Skills: Good PC skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerDB is a plus. Safety: Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures. Additional Training: Prefer OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training; training on each can be provided by Shermco. Travel: Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel.
