    Job Description ***Can be filled at a level I or Sr.*** JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE The Restoration Worker - Gas is responsible for supporting gas distribution operations by performing excavation restoration work and safely operating heavy equipment and commercial vehicles. This role completes concrete, asphalt, and hard surface repairs-including sidewalks, curbs, ramps, and road restoration-while ensuring all work meets safety standards, job specifications, and quality expectations. The Restoration Worker - Gas also performs minor equipment maintenance, assists Gas Mechanics as needed, completes work documentation accurately, and delivers excellent customer service when interacting with the public, inspectors, and other departments. ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Operation of heavy equipment including but not limited to operating Cement truck, Asphalt truck, Dump truck, dozers, front loader and Knuckle Boom truck. Maintain equipment, performing minor maintenance, lubrication and cleaning. Operate equipment (Backhoe) to backfill excavations, perform job site cleanup and load dump trucks. Possess and maintain a valid La. Class "A" CDL driver License or able to obtain License within 6 months. Good knowledge on hard surface patterns repairs. Stamp concrete, Herringbone Brick sidewalks, pave curb replacement, handicap ramps, roads, pave sidewalks and Historic hard surface sidewalks. Perform calculations to determine the correct amount of material (concrete and asphalt) required needed per job. Assist with ordering and scheduling deliveries. Mix appropriate amounts of sand, cement and water to form appropriate concrete mixture. Cut, shape and install slate tiles, stones on sidewalk, roads etc. Install rebar or wire mesh to reinforce material. Utilize restoration tools and equipment effectively such as wet saws, jack hammers, shovels, finish trowel, hand floats, compaction equipment, etc. Deliver and pick up barricades and wreck wood forms from various sites. Ability to work with other departments effectively to ensure efficient and effective completion of excavation restoration. Ability to complete work slips and work orders accurately and effectively. Under direction, follow specific safety and work procedures to perform routine task related to Gas Distribution facilities. Communicate and work with the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service. Assist Gas Mechanics where needed and perform general housekeeping. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Minimum education required of the position Highschool diploma or GED equivalent Minimum experience required of the position Minimum 1 year of cement finishing field experience (including concrete placement/finishing and hard-surface restoration work). Minimum 1-2 years of heavy equipment operating experience, specifically operating equipment such as: Dump Truck Concrete/Cement Truck Asphalt Truck Backhoe Front Loader Dozer Mini Excavator / Knuckle Boom (preferred if applicable) Preferred: Minimum 1-year Cement finishing Field work. Minimum 1 to 2 years' experience operating heavy equipment (Dump Truck Concrete truck, asphalt, Backhoe front loaders, dozers, mini excavators). Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and small power tools. Ability to communicate well with customers, city inspectors, etc. Knowledge and ability to practice Safe Work Procedures. Must be able to obtain and maintain D.O.T. Office of Pipeline Safety operator qualification as it pertains to gas restoration work. Good interpersonal skills along with good written and oral communication skills. Ability to interpret work orders and work requests effectively. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Self-motivated and dependable team player. Preferred: Knowledge of gas distribution system. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment such as Cement truck, Dump truck, dozers and front loaders. Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position Obtain CDL Class” A” within the first 6 months of hire Valid driver's license. Preferred: CDL Must reside within 45 miles of the reporting location.
