OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital is hiring a full-time registered Radiation Therapist in the Radiation Oncology department. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. This is a large and busy Radiation Oncology department located in two locations within the hospital and requires a therapist to be on call for add on or urgent cases. Call is rotated on a weekly basis among the 11 therapists. The department consists of three Linear Accelerators and two CTs. They also provide High Dose Rate Brachytherapy in the department. Delivers radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Prepares patients for a course of Radiation Therapy inclusive of simulation, dose calculations and acquiring of treatment parameters. Responsibilities And Duties: 35% Administers Radiation Therapy treatments on a daily basis. 20% Maintains daily record of treatment, inclusive of daily dosages and calculations and other necessary treatment records. 5% Performs simulations, acquires treatment parameters, patient contours and dose calculations. 10% Therapists who are scheduled to work 80 hours per pay, may be required to be on-call for weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. 10% Maintains patient schedules for In-Patients and Out-Patients communicates frequently with families and hospital personnel to maintain schedule coordination and accommodate patients as best as possible. 10% Monitors patient Condition and progress on a daily basis. i.e., patient weighs, skin care, reaction, etc. . 5% Assists Radiation Oncologist in performance of Brachytherapy procedures. Oversees and directs clinical activities of Radiation Therapy Technology students. Provides clinical insight to Radiologic Technology students, nursing students, etc. as needed. 5% Participates in Department Clinical QA activities, new patient conference, tumor board and QRM. Summary: The Lead Radiation Therapist is the supervisor over the Radiation Therapy team at Riverside Methodist Hospital Radiation Oncology. They are responsible for maintaining adequate staff levels and making sure all the LINAC machines are well staffed. They maintain and prepare the daily schedule and the call schedule for our team. They partner with the providers and the nursing team to deliver high quality care to our patients and are the connecting link between the Radiation Therapy team and the department manager. They are responsible for addressing the immediate concerns of the radiation therapy team and escalating them when appropriate. They maintain a high quality of care by reviewing charts and making sure all the required parameters and hard stops are in place. Inputs information directly into the computerized cancer registry. Completes case-finding, including review of pathology reports, the disease index, suspense list in computerized cancer registry. Codes stage of disease using the TNM Classification of Malignant Tumors (TNM) staging system in the appropriate American Joint Commission on Cancer Staging Manual. Maintains accession file on all patients entered into the cancer registry. Performs follow-up for all living patients on an annual basis to determine current disease status in accordance with FORDS guidelines. This may include medical record review, communication with physicians, other medical facilities or patients. Performs the weekly Pennsylvania Cancer Registry file submissions and quarterly correction file submissions to the state for all facilities. Crafts policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines for the Health Information Management department. Collects data from various sources, generates graphic, statistical and data table reports, composes cancer registry narrative for Cancer Center Annual Report and Cancer Center survey. Partners with various Cancer Center Committee members to ensure standards for accreditation are met and actively participates in Cancer Center survey by American College of Surgeons (ACoS). Prepares and distributes Cancer Registry Subcommittee meeting minutes. Assists with annual Survey Application Record updates as assigned. Submits data to the Pennsylvania Cancer Registry (PCR) and National Cancer Database (NCDB) via appropriate media to maintain regulatory compliance and accreditation.
