Position Summary: GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Sorter to provide support to one or more facilities. This role's main function will sort a variety of material that ranges from recyclables to trash in order to minimize contamination and to maintain high recyclable rates. Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety. Be able to extract at least 48 items per minute to maximize the recycling potential. Ability to follow directions, daily procedures, and protocols. Be able to work near others while sorting material from either side of the conveyor belt to increase productivity. Ability to stand and collect material for extended periods of time in front of a conveyor belt requiring the use of both hands with good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Position Summary: GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Sorter to provide support to one or more facilities. This role's main function will sort a variety of material that ranges from recyclables to trash in order to minimize contamination and to maintain high recyclable rates. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety. Be able to extract at least 48 items per minute to maximize the recycling potential. Ability to follow directions, daily procedures, and protocols. Be able to work near others while sorting material from either side of the conveyor belt to increase productivity. Ability to stand and collect material for extended periods of time in front of a conveyor belt requiring the use of both hands with good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The ability to distinguish between commodities with ease in order separate the material properly. The work habits to have are reliable transportation, be punctual, and reliable in order to minimize disruptions to the day-to-day operations. The ability to work as a team and work well with others. Language Skill: Proficiency in English and/or Spanish Physical Demands: Requires the ability to handle material weighing up to 50 lbs. so that the sort line does not pile up. Requires constant pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, and grasping material to prevent it from ending up in the wrong commodity container. Requires going up and down stairs in order to reach certain workstations. Work Environment: Requires working in a fast-paced work environment where there is exposure to loud noises, heat, cold, sharp objects, and odors. Requires the use of a hard hat, safety glasses, work boots, safety vests and gloves at all times. Work shifts vary. Regular workday may be anywhere from 4-12 hours depending on the daily tonnage. Working overtime is required. Handle and transport materials (e.g., wood, cement) and equipment (e.g., drills and grinders) Ability to follow directions and safety procedures and protocols. Be able to work in close proximity to others while sorting material from either side of the conveyor belt. Perform various duties, such as litter control around the sites / nearby roads, general cleaning of work areas, and assist with various onsite projects. Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping on plants and throughout the facility as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
