Responsible and accountable for daily operations, fiscal management, personnel management, performance improvement, and clinical practices to ensure the delivery of quality care. To plan, organize, develop and direct patient care services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be advised by the partners, to assure that the highest degree of quality patient care can be maintained at all times. Develops department goals, objectives, standards of performance, policies, and procedures; organizes the department in accordance with administrative guidelines in order to provide specified therapy services to meet the legal, organizational, and medical staff guidelines, works with administration in evaluating proposed procedural changes as they relate to patient care; has the authority and responsibility for establishing, directing the implementation and ensures compliance with Standards of Therapy Practice.
Pay: Rate of pay is based on years of experience and qualifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, or therapy specialty
Current PT, OT, or Speech Therapy license
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained from the American Heart Association and/or American Red Cross. Online certification is not acceptable
Three or more years of progressive leadership
Five or more years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting
Possess valid and current license in the state where the facility is located
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in healthcare, business, finance, or related field preferred.
Previous Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital experience

Position Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the administration and direct application of speech/language pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a referring physician. * Demonstrates strong working knowledge and skill experience with a variety of diagnostic groups including, but not limited to, the following: neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, degenerative neurological diseases, dysphagia, and other neurological and cognitive disorders.
* Demonstrates a working knowledge of normal growth and development, related behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age (adult, geriatric) and diagnosis of patient services to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.
* Demonstrates knowledge of IRF-PAI) Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument) and the Care Tool and their application in payment system for CMS.
* Administers evaluation tools and standardized tests according to established protocols; utilizes non-standardized probes for additional assessment as warranted to establish an appropriate plan of care adapting the plan of care to the individualized needs/goals of the patient/caregiver.

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for the ethical, cost effective management, delivery, documentation, and outcomes of professional speech pathology services to agency patients, in accordance with an established physical plan of care and in compliance with all applicable licensure/certification requirements, profession speech pathology acts, federal, state and agency policies and procedures. EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of Speech Language Pathology
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

BLS (Basic Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire

The Speech Pathologist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Schedules patients and initiates new referrals.
Works closely with physicians, nursing and other allied health team members to provide timely treatments to expedite recovery.
Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients with speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive - linguistic deficits.
Operates and maintains a variety of speech supplies and equipment, notifies supervisor of equipment needing repair, requisitions of needed supplies, etc.
Modifies treatment and treatment plan based on patient response. Interprets treatments and progress to the patient, their family and other health care professionals.
Provides all required documentation on each patient to include an evaluation with clinical history, subjective and objective data, goals and plan of treatment, progress notes, re-assessments, discharge summary, in a timely manner.
Reports to assigned Manager/Director.
