Repeats evaluations on a annual basis to measure progress according to professional guidelines.
Talks with students to determine their feelings about the program and their progress or any frustrations they may feel about the therapy.
Keeps current with professional literature and attends continuing on a regular basis to maintain and update professional skills.
Reports directly to the Clinical Manager.

Hearing ability sufficient to evaluate student's speech.

Speech-language pathologists, also called SLPs, are experts in communication.
SLPs work with people of all ages, from babies to adults. SLPs treat many types of communication and swallowing problems. These include problems with:
Speech sounds-how we say sounds and put sounds together into words. Other words for these problems are articulation or phonological disorders, apraxia of speech , or dysarthria .
Language-how well we understand what we hear or read and how we use words to tell others what we are thinking. In adults this problem may be called aphasia .
Literacy-how well we read and write. People with speech and language disorders may also have trouble reading, spelling, and writing.
Social communication-how well we follow rules, like taking turns, how to talk to different people, or how close to stand to someone when talking. This is also called pragmatics.

The purpose of this position is to function as a member of the Rehabilitation services patient care team by providing speech-language pathology services such as screening assessments, diagnostic evaluations and patient training related to communication, swallowing and/or cognition. The LEND program promotes leadership, research skills, and clinical expertise in graduate level health care professionals who intend to devote their careers to working with children, youth, and adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities. The SLP Fellow position requires participation in scholarship through the mentored research project. The SLP fellow is also engaged in teaching throughout the LEND program, developing presentations, and teaching other disciplines who are fellows in the LEND program.
Required Qualifications
The Speech-language Pathologist will hold a graduate degree in SLP and be a current LEND Fellow in the Institute for Development & Disability.
Must hold current CCC/SLP or CCC-CF (SLP) status and hold current Oregon SLP licensure (regular, initial, or conditional).
