As a Sterile Processing Technician for STERIS, you'll work behind the scenes of healthcare facilities in a fast-paced environment, impacting patient safety without being patient facing. Working in the Sterile Processing Department, you will support surgical procedures by ensuring medical instruments are clean, sterile, organized, and available for the surgical team. You will use your skills and knowledge to perform scheduled and unscheduled tasks independently and in compliance with the Department of Health, TJC, DNV, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN standards. This is an onsite role based in Concord, NC.
Duties
Reprocess surgical trays post-surgery; ensuring they are decontaminated, cleaned, inspected, sterilized, correctly assembled within a timely manner and ready for the next case.
Operates all mechanical machinery within the department such as, but not limited to, cart washers, instrument washers, steam sterilizers, low temp sterilizers, ultrasonic and drying cabinets within sterile processing.
Uses the implemented Track & Trace system established within the sterile processing department for all tasks and products processed.
Able to perform assembly on advanced instrument and vendor trays aligned with IP quality and production standards.
Participate in regular on-site training

2+ years of SPD experience with demonstrated proficiency in all SPD Technician responsibilities, including a solid proficiency and ability to work independently with all tray sets.
CRCST/ CSPDT, CST or CER/CFER, CST certification is required. Must also obtain CIS/CSIS, CHL/CSPM or STERIS Assessment certification within 12 months of hire.
Must maintain certification by completing 12 Continuing Education Credit Hours annually
Able to perform all job requirements of both a Technician I and Technician II.
Must demonstrate “mentor” status in applicable specialty area(s) via competency assessment within 6 months of hire.
Leadership discretion based on satisfactory performance, validation of skill level. Productivity, quality and attendance must meet company standards, including performance rating of successful or above in all areas.

The shift for this position is 12:00 am to 8:00 am Tuesday through Saturday.
Pay range for this opportunity is $22.68 - $29.35.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

Under the supervision of the Surgical Services Director, the Sterile Processing Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department. This includes: ensuring proper care and maintenance of all surgical instrumentation, equipment, and sterilization processes; demonstrating good knowledge of principles and practices of aseptic techniques, must have knowledge of equipment, instruments, procedures and supplies used in the operating room; and able to work under pressure and in situations that demand patience, tact and endurance. · Receive sterilized trays, sets, and equipment from the sterilizer; check for integrity of sterilization, (i.e., color changes on indicator tapes, external and internal indicators, and dampness of packages); stock and properly store sterile items in sterile storage room in accordance with MTF procedures.
· Assist with decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, sterilization, storage and issuing of medical/surgical instrument sets, instruments and supplies.
· Provide wards, clinics and other users with sterile supplies and other SPD issued items.
· Process instrument sets delivered from wards and clinics and reissue them as required. Maintain established supply levels and rotation of supplies.
· Clean the SPD work areas per SPD standard operating procedures. Issue SPD supplies to sections and outpatients and properly complete hand receipts.

**HOURS:**
· Central Sterile Supply Technician services on a full-time time basis, 24/7, for the Department of Operative and Anesthesia Services.
· Scheduled work hours are up to 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year, to include weekends and federal holidays.

Handle laboratory procedures such as pouring impressions, model trimming, fabricating mouth guards, temporary crowns, retainers, and other appliances as well as case management follow up. This shall include the correct documentation needed for lab slips and contact with the dental laboratory companies.
Handle patient education such as post op instructions, oral hygiene instruction, consent forms and other forms of clinical education.
Scheduling of follow up appointments when required.
Provide a proper handoff to the administration staff and properly communicate ongoing treatment needs.
Each night, make post up follow up calls to any patients having invasive procedures such as extractions, crowns, or root canals.
Any other duties as assigned
Education / Experience Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Special Requirements/Certifications/Licenses:
X-Ray Certification
One year of experience, required
Current CPR certification
