Duties: * Performs decontamination, assembly, inspection, disinfection, case cart management, and sterilization of medical devices and equipment. * Handles sterile items in a manner which will not compromise their integrity. * Good communication to effectively work with team members and customers. Requirements: * With the responsibility of the overnight shift, we prefer either prior Sterile Processing experience, or overnight shift experience. * High School Diploma or GED graduate or equivalent required. * Expect 8-hour shifts of standing/walking. * Be able to push/pull up to 75lbs, lift up to 25lbs routinely. * Able to tolerate heat while wearing personal protective equipment. * Is able to work in an environment with frequent noises, alerts, and disruptions. Dept: MAC Sterile Processing Schedule: 3p-1130p, rotating weekend and holiday Hours per biweekly pay period: 80 Performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: * Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follows proper standard precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas. * Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment. * Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner. * Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment. * Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas. * Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment. * Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards. * Performs other related duties as required and directed. Qualifications: Required: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Completion of approved sterile processing course. * Certification required within one year from hire as certified by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). Preferred: * Prior experience in sterile processing preferred.
