Under the supervision and guidance of the Sterile Processing Manager and the Sterile Processing Lead Technician the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization, distribution, and control of medical-surgical instruments, supplies and equipment for the Perioperative departments, and other patient care areas as well as surgical case cart preparation.
High School Diploma, GED, or a higher level of education that would require the completion of high school, is required.
One year of recent full time CSR experience preferred.
Central Sterile Technician certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service and Materials Management (IAHCSMM). If not currently certified, certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire. In lieu of Technician certification, Surgical Instrument Specialist certification from either of these organizations will be accepted only for those who were working in Sterile Processing prior to January 1, 2016.
Certification must be maintained.
Performs decontamination and high level disinfection of medical- surgical instrumentation and equipment according to department policies, infection prevention guidelines, and manufacturers' written instructions.
Inspects, assembles and sterilizes surgical instruments insuring instruments are clean, functioning properly and sets are complete.
Performs Steam and Sterrad sterilization, and high level disinfection according to established policies and procedures.
Performs required monitoring and record keeping of sterilization and disinfection processes including knowledge of procedures for monitoring failures and the recall procedure.
Prepares and fills case carts with supplies and instruments according to preference card pick lists.
Retrieves surgeon preference cards from Care Navigator for add-on procedures.
Retrieves case carts from Operating Rooms and delivers to the decontamination area throughout the shift.
Retrieves contaminated instruments from patient care areas.
Issues and/or delivers medical-surgical instruments and supplies to patient care areas.
Prepares, replenishes and exchanges emergency code carts.
Transports medication trays for code cart replenishment.
Orders and stocks medical-surgical supplies.
Required to be on call when scheduled for weekends, 3
rd
shift, holidays and other times deemed necessary by the Sterile Processing Manager and/or Sterile Processing Lead Technician.

Summary:
Fulfills all Level 1 Tech responsibility. Overview:

Resolve all accounting discrepancies as assigned by service team.
Ensure that HUB Workflows are executed through utilization of agency management system in accordance with HUB policies and procedures.
May assist in other special projects as required.

2. Takes responsibility for communicating needs and priorities to the Supervisor or Lead Tech. Attends daily communication meetings including huddles and shift change meetings.
3. Verifies that all equipment and insruments required for the next day's procedures have been accounted for following established departmental guidelines.
4. Prepares case carts for next day's procedures while identifying missing equipment, supplies & instruments following departmental guidelines for shortage resolution.
5. Works with the Supervisor or Lead Tech to ensure all sterile processing functions comply with the AAMI standards and other appropriate regulations in all areas including decontamination, products sterility, packaging integrity, department equipment monitoring, and case cart program and inventory control.
6. Works with the Supervisor to maintain designated levels of sterile and nonsterile supplies for the department and hospital.
7. Instructs and mentors new employees in prioritizing work flow during peak & emergency situation while demonstrating proficiency & efficiency.
8. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY
The Delivery Technician is responsible for delivering durable medical equipment to Apria patients in the home.
SCHEDULE
Tuesday to Saturday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pulls, packs, delivers and picks up medications, supplies and basic equipment.
May instruct patients on basic use of respiratory therapy equipment, durable medical equipment, oxygen equipment, and other equipment/services approved by state licensure limitations.
Loads and unloads durable medical and infusion equipment onto delivery vehicle.
Responds to emergency delivery calls as needed during regular business hours and on an on-call basis.
Completes necessary paperwork including daily delivery logs, pick-up and delivery forms and vehicle maintenance logs. Distributes paperwork to appropriate personnel.
Maintains supply component of patient profiles.
Notify supervisor if any one of the following items is discovered in the patient's home:
a) Physical abuse of any family member
b) Home environment is unsafe for the care ordered, such as unsanitary conditions or insufficient food for children
c) Animals in the home that cause unsanitary conditions
May clean and assist with the repair of equipment.
Perform routine vehicle maintenance including the checking of gasoline, oil fluids, tire pressure and brakes. Report malfunctions to supervisor.
