This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. * Teaches group and private swim lessons, and other aquatic related classes. * Aids in coaching, if necessary year-round recreational swim team, water polo, water aerobics, and other related aquatic programs. * Provides lifeguard services to patrons in the pool and administers CPR/First Aid. * Reviews American Red Cross lifeguard standards regularly to ensure ability to competently perform water rescue skills. * Maintains a clean facility through the completion of daily and weekly cleaning tasks, divided by day. Daily cleaning tasks include sanitizing the bathrooms and ensuring tidiness in the office/pool deck. * Assists with facility finances to include daily, weekly, monthly and annual passes and class fees. * Performs water testing 3x per day to ensure that chemical levels are within a safe range for patron usage (determined by SC DHEC). Adjusting chemicals when necessary, including refilling drums of hazardous chemicals (i.e. liquid chlorine and muriatic acid). * Enforces pool rules and facilitate lane sharing among patrons when the pool is busy to ensure that all patrons have a good experience while using the facility. * Promotes and markets aquatic programs and facilities. * Attends in-service training on a routine basis. * Assists in maintaining various operational reports on attendance, inventory, first aid training, simulation activities and other relevant duties. * Performs related work as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. * Requires a short demonstration up to and including one year of related experience. SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: * Lifeguard certification. * CPR certification. * WSI certification. * Bloodborne Pathogens/First Aid certification. * Certified Pool Operator. * Copies of one of the above certifications MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION.
