Being a swim instructor, you will be provided the training to teach swim lessons to children and adults, starting at 3-months old, following the British Swim School aquatics program that is gentle, fun, and progressive. You will be assigned to a class schedule developed by manager(s) and interact with swimmers, and parents and/or guardians.
Your Typical Responsibilities:
Reports directly to and supports the Aquatics Manager and/or Business Owner(s).
Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with British Swim School training and program standards, maintaining certifications throughout employment.
Work a flexible schedule that may include evenings (3pm-7pm), weekends (8am- 1pm), and holidays as required by business needs.
Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and be in the water for the duration of the shift.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion.
Enthusiastic personality.
Comfortable in and around the water. Strong swimming skills are a plus but can be taught and developed!
Must maintain certifications throughout the length of employment.
Must complete all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training and testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with children.
Swimming experience: 1-2 years preferred but not required.
Customer service skills: 1 year preferred
Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification(s) preferred (but can be obtained during training)

Job Summary
Gulliver Preparatory School is currently seeking part-time Swim Instructors to join our team of professionals. The Swim Instructors will demonstrate competency to teach and lead specific skills and activities in the water. Adherence to the Gulliver Enrichment program teaching curriculum ensures that each student in the program learns water survival skills and then professes to propulsion and stroke development in a fun and gentle environment. Overview
The Lifeguard/Water Safety Instructor provides for patron safety and first aid in coordination with aquatics safety personnel by enforcing park and pool rules, recognizing and responding to aquatic incidents during normal operations, and performing various water safety instruction and educational development. Essential Functions
* Observes swimmers from guard stand or poolside and cautions swimmers of rule violations to enforce pool safety rules; vonducts appropriate emergency and rescue techniques including CPR and First Aid for distressed or drowning swimmers.
* Administers first aid to pool patrons for injuries such as cuts, abrasions, sprains, and contusions to provide basic medical assistance as needed; reports injuries, accidents, and assistance rendered to patrons to the pool manager and documents each occurrence to maintain proper files on such occurrences.
* Cleans, checks, and maintains pool, pool area, and restrooms to ensure a clean and sanitary facility; inspects pool equipment such as ladders, diving boards, and guard stands.
* Monitors and documents water quality to ensure that the pool water maintains a proper chemical balance.
* Communicates with the general public regarding lessons and other water safety instructional opportunities.
* Instructs and teaches participants enrolled in the Learn to Swim program; plans lessons, evaluates individual participant progress, and provides corrective feedback
* Recruits, trains, and assigns class aides and assistants; ensures there is a lifeguard on duty during lessons and instructional activities.
* Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports.
* Assist with pre-season operational and maintenance tasks.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be 16 years of age.
The following valid certificates, and/or wallet card(s) must be possessed at time of application and maintained valid throughout employment: (1) Water Safety Instructor (2) Lifeguard Training (3) CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and (4) Standard First Aid issued by the American Red Cross or other nationally recognized certifying agency.
Additionally, some six (6) months experience working with persons with disabilities may be preferred. Must be able to pass the City of Miami's performance test, which may include swimming, running, and simulated rescue exercises.

Fieldwork Instructors will observe Teacher Candidates throughout the semester, document the teaching experience, provide formative and summative digital evaluations, conduct team meetings, facilitate meaningful learning of the course competencies, and support all facets of the learning environment consistent with the University's mission.
