The water skills will be the pre-requisite for the lifeguarding class if the applicant isn't certified. Applicants may be asked to complete the water skills as part of the interview process. Applicants must pass a pre-course swimming skills test prior to taking lifeguarding courses. The water skills test consist of the following: * 300-yard swim using front crawl or breaststroke * Two-minute tread using legs only * The ability to retrieve a 10-lb dive weight from 7 ft. deep, surface and swim 20 yds. with the weight using legs only and exit the pool without using a ladder within 100 seconds Multiple positions are available at the following locations: * Central Aquatics * West Cobb Aquatics * Mountain View Aquatics * South Cobb Aquatics Lifeguard: $17.00/hr. (Grade: 100P) Lifeguard/Instructor: $17.51/hr. QUALIFICATIONS: Current certification as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Current Certification in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer are required. Current certifications in the following are preferred: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds), bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, and sitting. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. The noise level is mild to moderate.
