Responsibilities of the SwimInstructor - This SwimInstructor position is responsible for instructing group swim classes and private lessons as assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor; evaluating programs and making recommendations for improvements to the Aquatic Supervisor. SwimInstructors will deliver a safe and excellent customer service experience to our residents, members and patrons while enforcing and adhering to existing policies and procedures. The SwimInstructor position will work cooperatively with all Aquatics and facility personnel to promote customer satisfaction with programs and facilities with effective communication skills both verbally and in writing. Group Lesson Instructors and Private Swim Lesson Instructors act as public relations representative for the Aquatics Department and The Center of Clayton. Staff will inform supervisor of all positive and negative information regarding the physical facility, aquatics staff or general public. SwimInstructors will monitor attendance policies and keep patrons abreast of class information and registration deadlines. As well as, ensure program safety by monitoring class area and notifying program supervisor of any maintenance or safety concerns, as well as documentation of accidents or incidents. SwimInstructors may utilize program equipment and supplies and creatively develop new uses for enhancing swim instruction and are encouraged to secure and maintain any discipline-specific certifications necessary. SwimInstructors for both Group Lessons and Private Lessons must attend all staff meetings or training sessions as required.
SwimInstructor Job Qualifications - Must be knowledgeable in swimming technique and teaching skills with strong communication skills. Minimum of 1 year experience working in aquatic environment, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification is preferred. POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors swimmers for safety associated with LTS Instructor duties.
Completes swim lesson reports and records assigned by the Aquatics Director/Assistant Manager/Shift Supervisor.
Assists with preparation and clean up for LTS classes.
Follows safety directives established by the City, County, State, Federal, Turner Recreation Commission and Turner USD #202.
Skilled in verbal communication with both children and adults.
Develop and implement swimming lesson plans effectively.
Maintain positive relationships with students, parents and community patrons.
Model the major strokes and other swimming techniques in and out of the water as established by the American Red Cross.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Obey and comply with all Turner Recreation and Turner Aquatic Center policies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience: None required but is preferred. Must be at least 15 years of age.
Education: Must be able to read, write, and count.
License/Certification: Current CPR and First Aid certification is required. Must possess current Water Safety Instructor certification from the American Red Cross.
