Role and Responsibilities
The Aquatics Instructor is responsible for teaching safe and effective small group and/or private swim classes for our members and are required to hold and maintain educational standards commensurate with Active Wellness quality and commitment to aquatics safety.
Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Teaches various levels and age groups in accordance with Active Wellness instructional guidelines.
Plan lessons, select appropriate drills, and evaluate the student's progress.
Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices.
Maintain a safe and positive teaching environment.
Attend all in-service trainings.
Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates.
Perform all swimming strokes and skills taught in all levels.
Effectively communicate each student's progress either to the student directly, or to the student's parents where appropriate.
Assist with water quality testing and record keeping for pools/spa, and pool/spa equipment observation and maintenance
Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
Work as a TEAM with all other departments
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Promote wellness center services and activities

Performance test are as follows:
Demonstrate all swim strokes, including freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and treading water.
Demonstrate all skills taught in all levels.
Must be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
Strong verbal communication skills
Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry
Lifeguarding Certification including AED/CPR/BLS
Proof of citizenship or legal status
Physical and Working Conditions
