Job Description
We are seeking a full-time BSN instructor to teach OB or Pediatrics. No prior teaching experience is required but must have recent bedside experience in OB or Pediatrics. Pay: $60-70/hr DOE
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with other instructors in preparing, administering, and grading examinations for the course. Participates in the preparation of the final evaluations for the course
Responsible for assuring class attendance and grades are kept and submitted
Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure quality of program
Plans and implements orientation of new faculty in both theory and clinical facilities for the courses
Utilize principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of the adult learner
Makes continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction
Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning
Maintains student records of attendance, skills check-off forms, and assist with program data collection
Submit required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner
Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations
Participate in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program
Attend faculty meetings
Plan and supervises student clinical experience in assigned health care facilities
Evaluates student performance in relation to clinical learning outcomes in accordance with policies and procedures established by Unitek College, Department of Nursing
Provide feedback of clinical performance or specific event immediately after observation
Assists in maintains student records of clinical attendance, skills check-off forms, and assist with program data collection
Responsible for making sure the clinical assignments meet both student and facility needs
Determines best method to observe, instruct, and evaluate students.
Determines if clinical facility meet all health and safety requirements for Unitek College students to attend clinicals
Provide access to students for ongoing communication through scheduling of office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods
Participate in student advising activities
Pay Range: $60-$70/hr
Qualifications
No Previous Teaching experience is required! Our Faculty Development training program will provide tools to help you be successful in a class room setting.
Hold a valid, active license issued by the State Board of Registered Nursing
Master of Nursing or higher degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing or education, administration. OB, Pediatrics
At least four years' experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
A year of Clinical experience within the last five years (Clinical teaching applies toward direct patient care). Clinically competent as defined in CCR Section 1420(c)
Expertise the following area of nursing - Pediatrics, OB or Med/surg

Our swiminstructors teach people of all ages (infants through adults) how to be comfortable and safe in the water with the goal to increase water competency in our community. Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the SwimInstructor/Lifeguard, multi-tasks on an ongoing basis but not limited to include: plan, organize, lead and/or assist, lifeguard and supervise various diversified and adaptive recreational activities for a variety of disabled individuals and customer groups of all ages. Overseeing Program Activities:
Provide and assist with lifeguarding services for all patrons of the facility on a daily basis
Lead aquatic programs
Assist participants and customers in the water - as scheduled
Teach group swim lessons - as scheduled
Assist and provide all other aspects of program activities, as needed and assigned
Administrative Duties:
Provide positive customer service and maintain organized front desk
Act as a first point of contact and provide excellent customer service to all patrons using and not using the pool Provide and explain services offered, depending on age, swimming competency and/or medical provider authorization & costs
Enroll customers in appropriate aquatic classes
Ensure customers sign in appropriately for select classes
Other administrative duties as requested

Pool Safety and Cleanliness:
Maintain safety and cleanliness of pool area (free of debris, floats, water accessories/toys, etc.)
Maintain equipment used in the pool, consulting with supervisor if external repair companies are needed.

Experience:
One year of aquatics experience. Previous experience as a swim coach or competitive swimmer is highly desirable.
Certifications:
Current Red Cross certifications in Water Safety Instruction, Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR for Lifeguards with AED or CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED

Job Description
The City of American Canyon is seeking individuals who will serve as Lifeguards or Lifeguard/WSI. Lifeguard/Lifeguard/WSI observe the activity of swimmers in and around the American Canyon Aquatics Pool and provide lifesaving services as needed. Lifeguards also assist and teach with swim lessons and other pool-related activities. The position may be scheduled during hours that may include early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays and are considered temporary/part-time and are limited to no more than 1,000 hours per fiscal year.

Swim Assessments for Lifeguard/SwimInstructorSwim tests and interviews will be conducted on-site at the job fair on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Please bring swim attire and be prepared to take the swim tests.The two assessments below will be evaluated by an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and participants must pass BOTH assessments to qualify for the position and for the American Red Cross Lifeguard certification class (provided by the City of Dublin prior to start date).
Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence
* Swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed.
* Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs.
* Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
Timed Event: Must complete within 1 minute, 40 seconds
* Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.
* Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
* Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face at or near the surface.
* Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
General Purpose
Under general supervision, provides aquatic safety and supervision for aquatic facility patrons; monitors activities in the water, pool decks, and ancillary areas of aquatic complexes to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons; learns, explains, and enforces safe aquatic programs and pool policies, regulations, and rules; performs rescues and administers first aid, CPR, and AED as necessary; and provides instruction in all levels of swimming and other aquatics programs.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This is an entry-level classification within a two-level Lifeguard structure. Incumbents in this class perform aquatic safety, surveillance, and emergency response duties under general supervision while learning departmental policies, procedures, and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs). This classification provides program, facility, and customer service support while ensuring aquatic activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established rules, regulations, and certification standards

Received general supervision from a Recreation Coordinator, Pool Manager, Head Lifeguard, or other designated supervisory staff.
This classification does not exercise direct supervisory responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Monitor pool, waterslide, and surrounding aquatic areas to ensure patron safety and compliance with City swimming pool rules and regulations.

* Recognize emergency situations and respond promptly by performing water rescues, first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques in accordance with established EAPs.
* Conduct safety checks of pools, waterslides, and surrounding areas prior to and during operation to ensure safe and clean conditions.
* Provide customer service by assisting patrons, answering questions, and explaining facility rules, schedules, and procedures in a courteous and professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
There is no educational requirement for this class; completion of two (2) years of high school or equivalent is desirable.
Experience:
No prior work experience is required; however, desirable qualifications include experience in aquatic activities, swimming, or participation in structured aquatic programs.
Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements:
* Must be at least 15 years of age at the time of hire.
* Applicants who are 18 years of age or older and have direct contact with minors must successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check as a condition of employment.
* Most possess and maintain American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training including Administering Emergency Oxygen certifications. Pre-employment job offers for individuals currently enrolled in these training courses are conditional upon successful completion of all required certifications.
* First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (California Title 22) must be obtained within one year of employment.
* This classification is designated as a Mandatory Reporter. Completion of Mandatory Reporter training is required within 30 days of employment.
* Certification as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) is desirable.

Work Environment
Work is performed primarily at City swimming pool and aquatic facilities, including water attractions, deck areas, and surrounding recreational spaces. Work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, water, humidity, sunlight, noise, crowds, and other outdoor elements. Duties may include standing or sitting for extended periods, remaining alert while monitoring active aquatic areas, performing water rescues, administering first aid, and responding to emergency situations.
This position involves frequent interaction with children, teens, adults, seniors, parents or guardians, fellow lifeguards, supervisors, and members of the public, including individuals who may be distressed, upset, or noncompliant with facility rules or safety requirements.
Employees in this classification may be required to work variable schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours to meet program and operational needs, including special events. Employees in this classification may be assigned to work programs or events at which alcohol is served, including the Dublin St. Patrick's Day Festival, Splatter, and other community or private events.
