Assists with press start-up and moves controls to regulate tension on rolls, to synchronize speed of press. Assists operator with press set up, make splices, bend plates and assist with webbing up press. Helps operator on make ready. Cut off in correct spot, web guides, perf or score. Help in any way that will ensure a quicker make ready and less usage on time and paper. Moves loads of printed and unprinted stock when necessary. Obtains proper ink from ink room and fills ink fountains. Maintains proper levels of ink at all times Make sure correct solutions are in correct color-coded bottles. Fill each day before end of shift. Inspect sheets to ensure quality standards are met. Check product for quality problems such as fold, count, smearing, etc. Product with quality defects should be removed from every bundle. Notify operator of any quality issues. If required, help correct jobs that are out of specifications. Change paper bands on inline banding machine(s) when needed. Will rotate to other departments to work as the need arises. Clean, organize and maintain press areas continually and at the end of job/shift to ensure a clean, safe and productive work environment. Cleans machine before and after each job. Picks up and removes all foreign material. Assist in troubleshooting and correcting printing press issues. Communicate at shift start up and shift end about the job that is on the press, paper, ink, etc. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of forms and quality checks for each job. Operates or assists on other pressroom equipment and presses if needed and when the workload requires. Cooperates and strives to understand the pre-press and bindery department's processes when interaction is necessary for job production. Assist with preventive maintenance on the press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts and cleaning. Empties waste/scrap receptacles. Press assessment involvement. Communicate problems or potential problems that need addressed, by entering in location and problem in assessments tab. Give assistance to co-workers to reduce downtime and improve productivity. Follows all safety regulations. Adhere to policies and guidelines pertaining to confidentiality, security, and conducts business in an ethical and professional manner.
