What You'll Do
As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, you will:
Clinical Services

The Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) Program initial response van team consists of a behavioral health clinician and an EMT. The goal of the initial response van team is to respond to behavioral health calls that come through Denver-911 dispatch in order to to de-escalate community members experiencing a crisis and connect residents in distress with appropriate resources, including wraparound services through the STAR Community Partner Network. STAR vans provide a broad range of no-cost services such as providing information and referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, transportation, and social service needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position is located within WellPower's Clinical and Community Department and is a member of the El Centro team. We serve people across the lifespan, working through a trauma-informed, strengths-based, relational, culturally attuned, and community responsive lens. The position provides outpatient therapy across the lifespan to children, youth, adults, couples, and families. These services are uniquely tailored to the needs of each individual or family being served. This position provides a wide range of interventions that include (but are not limited to): diagnostic mental health assessments; individual, family, play, couples, and group psychotherapy; connection to case management support and psychiatric services; crisis intervention; coordination and ongoing communication with appropriate collaterals. The individuals and families we work with present with a broad range of bio-psycho-social and mental health needs including trauma, depression, anxiety, attachment, family dynamics, and substance use, among others. This position is also responsible for maintaining compliance with documentation standards for all work performed.
ABOUT EL CENTRO: El Centro is a multicultural group of providers and supportive staff who offer Spanish/English bilingual integrated outpatient services across the lifespan, ages 5 years and up. We bring a trauma-informed, strengths-based, relational, and culturally responsive lens to our work with families from Latino/a/x, Hispanic, and Chicano/a/x communities. Common themes we explore are migration and immigration, acculturation, grief and loss, intergenerational trauma, interpersonal violence, navigating systemic and structural barriers, and experiences of environmental stressors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide diagnostic mental health assessments as well as individual, family, play, couple, and/or group psychotherapy along with crisis intervention and case management support to assigned individual/ family.
* Develop treatment plans; monitor treatment progress and follow-up as clinically indicated.
* Facilitate the individual and/or family's growth and development with an emphasis on strengths, culture, resiliency, and wellbeing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Provide psychological evaluations/problem identification, and crisis interventions.
* Provide medical case management as needed.
* Assist consumers with psychological, social development and rehabilitation.
* Coordinate medical care and intervention with staff and psychiatrist.
* Draw blood for lab work for consumers.
* Monitor consumers' vital signs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
* Graduation from accredited school of nursing. Licensed as a Practical Nurse in good standing with the Board of Nursing of the State of Colorado.
EXPERIENCE:
* 1-3 years of experience working with consumers with a serious and persistent mental illness preferred Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma informed principles and practices.
* Theoretical and working knowledge of psychotropic medications.
* Working knowledge of laboratory test results.
* Ability to assess crises situations and intervene appropriately.
* Familiarity with DSM IV and diagnostic techniques.
* Effective written and verbal communications skills.
* General knowledge of computer technology.
* Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Help people we serve in meeting basic needs for food, clothing, shelter, personal safety, and general medical and dental care, and assist them with applications for income, medical, housing, or other benefits which they may need and to which they are entitled.
* Identify people we serve for whom establishment of a protective payee-ship is necessary and arrange this assistance.
* Ensure people we serve access to needed services and community resources by arranging for transportation, or if necessary, by taking the people we serve to the service in personal vehicle
* Provide comprehensive psychosocial services that include and continuum of high and low intensity services designed to improve or maintain people we serve' abilities to function in normal
* social roles. These will include, but be limited to, services which:
* Help people we serve evaluate both their strengths and symptoms, and facilitate in people we serve setting their own goals, and plan for appropriate services;
* Guide and instruct people we serve in daily living skills such as medication use, diet, exercise, personal hygiene, shopping, cooking, budgeting, housekeeping, use of transportation, and other community services;
* Help people we serve develop social skills, interests, and leisure time activities to provide a sense of participation and personal worth, including opportunities for age appropriate, culturally appropriate daytime and evening activities.
* Help people we serve find and make use of appropriate employment opportunities, vocational rehabilitation services, or supported work environments where appropriate;
* Assist people we serve who need special living arrangements in locating a rehabilitative or supportive housing arrangement. The choices should be broad enough to allow each consumer and opportunity to live in an atmosphere offering the degree of support necessary, while also providing incentives and encouragement for people we serve to assume increasing responsibilities for their lives.
* Offer support, assistance, consultation, and education to families, friends, landlords, employers, community agencies, and others who come into contact with people we serve, in order to maximize benefits and minimize problems associated with the presence of these persons in the community;
* Identify and work with potential natural support systems such as neighborhood networks, churches, and community organizations.
* Make full utilization of the consumer's support systems in order to encourage treatment program engagement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
* Bachelor (CM I) or Master (CM II) Degree in psychology, social work, or other related human services degree.

The Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) Program initial response van team consists of a behavioral health clinician and an EMT. The goal of the initial response van team is to respond to behavioral health calls that come through Denver-911 dispatch in order to to de-escalate community members experiencing a crisis and connect residents in distress with appropriate resources, including wraparound services through the STAR Community Partner Network. STAR vans provide a broad range of no-cost services such as providing information and referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, transportation, and social service needs.
The objectives of the STAR Program are to:
* Increase connection to behavioral health services and community resources for those reached by STAR.
* Provide more appropriate response and reduce emergency calls to police, fire department, and EMS.
* Improve information sharing across systems and service providers involved in administering STAR.
* Increase partnerships with community organizations through collaboration via STAR Community Partner Network.
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide direct mental health clinical assessments and treatment to individuals with mental illness. Work with others in a clinical team environment to help individuals move toward recovery. The Co-Responder program consists of a partnership between the Denver Police Department (DPD) and WellPower The Co-Responder program supports an overall effort to expand specialized law enforcement and behavioral health strategies tailored to meet the needs of people with behavioral/mental health concerns in the Denver community. The Co-Responder Unit aims to reduce the number of people with mental health issues in the jail system; to improve information sharing and coordination, as appropriate, across systems and service providers; and to reduce overall costs relating to people with mental or behavioral health concerns, including the use of emergency services. Clinicians work in close partnership with the Denver Police Department, responding to calls involving people who suffer from mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use issues. Clinicians are trained to assist people in crisis and provide the most effective services for resolution. Clinicians and officers collaborate to provide treatment in a format that best decreases current stressors and replaces them with long term community-based supports. Co-Responders also help identify community resources, alternative treatment options, and long-term community supports in any area identified by the individual. Co-Responders may work with one of the following agencies:
