About the Tree House Veterinary Wellness Center The Tree House Veterinary Wellness Center serves a long-term need in the local Chicago community. With the guiding belief that every pet and pet owner should have access to quality veterinary care, the Veterinary Wellness Center gives pet parents access to affordable spay and neuter surgery as well as preventative wellness care for all pets in need of basic care. Tree House VWC typically serves cats and dogs. We do high-volume spay/neuter (including community cats). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Below describes the two different shift types. Vets may choose to be scheduled for surgery, wellness, or both. Spay/Neuter Pre-Surgery: Provide efficient yet thorough pre-surgical exams to ensure each patient's candidacy for surgery and anesthesia. Surgery: Perform spay/neuter surgeries for both dogs and cats (including Trap-Neuter-Return). Adhere to aseptic technique and gentle tissue handling standards. Utilize buried suture techniques for all surgical closures. Communicate and delegate effectively and professionally with the surgical team. Note: Capacity and patient type can be adjusted pending volume comfort level and advanced notice, a typical day ranges from 20-35 surgeries. Anesthesia/Emergency Care: Alert staff of any anesthetic concerns based on patient presentation or monitoring equipment. Assist staff in trouble shooting. Tailor anesthetic protocols to patients' needs, on a case-by-case basis. Demonstrate critical thinking when faced with emergencies or unexpected situations and provide timely care in a calm manner. Post-Surgery: Ensure a safe and successful patient outcome. Communicate with and update pet owners and partners thoroughly when needed. About the Shift: This shift is usually 6-7 hours, pending patient load and surgeon speed. Spay/neuter surgery shifts are on Tuesday through Friday. The majority of client communication is handled by the client service representative, veterinary assistant, or clinic manager. Capacity can be adjusted pending comfort level and advanced notice. If interested, there is an opportunity to expand this shift to our resident cat clinic if a need exists. Wellness Animal Care: Ensure animals are handled in a manner that minimizes stress and maintains safety and provide care options for patients and pet owners. Wellness: Provide basic wellness care (vaccines, surgery rechecks, etc.) for owned pets (dogs and cats only) on an appointment basis. Interpret patient history to determine medical needs and recommendations. Communication: Maintain thorough yet efficient records, clearly communicate follow-up recommendations and appropriate next steps with pet owners, etc. End of life: Provide end of life care as needed, maintaining patient dignity and compassion. About the Shift: This shift is typically 5-6 hours on Saturdays. Appointments are brief (~5-10 minutes) and clients are not expecting a thorough veterinary exam. The majority of client communication is handled by the client service representative or veterinary assistant. If interested, there is an opportunity to expand this shift to our resident cat clinic, providing medical care for our shelter cats awaiting adoption. QUALIFICATIONS: DVM or VMD degree from an accredited university. Illinois veterinary license Three years of experience in a veterinary clinic is preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Animal Handling: Required to safely handle animals while minimizing patient fear, anxiety, and stress. May be exposed to aggressive, ill or injured animals, as well as personal injury including bites, scratches and infectious animal diseases. May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal bodily fluids or feces. Physical Requirements: Required to stand, walk, bend over and stoop. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. May be exposed to isoflurane gas and other noxious/hazardous substances including cleaning supplies. May be exposed to physical medical work hazards such as needles, scalpel blades, etc. Emotional Requirements: Required to respond to medical situations quickly and appropriately. SPECIFIC DUTIES Design and develop a manner in which to evaluate the outreach (i.e., psychological and spiritual) services offered to clients of the Office of Assistance Ministry. Represent the office when an allegation is formalized at Professional Fitness Review meeting with Victim-Survivor. Explain office services. The primary purpose of the Prayer and Penance program is to prevent sexual abuse by the program participants and to protect the community from harm. Secondary purposes of the Prayer and Penance Program are as follows: To reduce risk by promoting healthy living on the part of program participants in the program. To prevent harm to the faith of Catholics within the Archdiocese. To protect the reputation of the priesthood from further harm by individuals in the program. The guidelines that have been established for the Program of Prayer and Penance reflect current (2009) standards for community supervision with adults who have sexually offended minors. Increasing positive activities and pro-social relationships within a supervised framework with consistent accountability is the best overall methodology for prevention of further incidents of sexual abuse and other forms of sexual offending and is the core of the program. As the knowledge base in this area continues to develop, modifications will be in order. The Case Manager's function includes the following activities: Develop systems of support for program participants, Verify the accuracy of daily logs and travel requests, Establish communication with therapists, sponsors, and members of the participants' community support network, Maintain ongoing, personal communication with the program participants to continually assess risk, Develop and oversee the maintenance of Individual Specific Protocols, Oversee clinical services for participants, Document the compliance and non-compliance of program participants, Provide information regarding the program participants to leaders within the Archdiocese on both an "as needed" and consistent basis, EDUCATION Masters Degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field. CHM completed its most recent campaign in early 2020; as the Museum continues to emerge from the pandemic and evolves its focus to better represent the entirety of Chicago, this MGO will be critical to the identification and qualification of new major donors. The MGO will join a collegial, collaborative, and tenacious team of Development professionals dedicated to the expanded mission of the Chicago History Museum. The ideal candidate will be an outgoing and engaging team player with a history of success cultivating major gifts. This MGO should bring a passion for the history of Chicago and the motivation to contribute to a growing program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Within the first 12 to 18 months, the MGO will achieve the following major objectives: • Be fully integrated with the Development team, working collaboratively to achieve team goals. • Engage with a portfolio, while actively cultivating 20 to 30 donors and prospects toward new or increased giving. • Actively participate in securing $400,000 in unrestricted revenue in the first year from major donors in partnership with the President and the Vice President of External Engagement and Development. Description Greet callers and guests, take messages and route calls as appropriate. Respond to callers and guests by providing general information and assistance with regards to parish activities. Provide a high level of hospitality to parishioners and non-parishioners. Perform office functions including, but not limited to, copying, scanning, faxing, filing mail sorting and scheduling of meetings. Record parishioner donations in Parish Data System (PDS). Maintain parish files in an orderly and timely fashion. Record sacramental records and provide copies when requested following Archdiocesan guidelines. Record mass intentions to be celebrated. Receive and record payments for mass intentions, weddings and funerals and votives per Archdiocesan and parish policies. Prepare correspondence and reporting using Microsoft Office and Google Docs programs. May draft correspondence for pastor's signature. Prepare special mailings and other projects. Order and maintain inventory of office supplies ensuring an adequate supply of forms, paper, sacramental certificates, etc. Assist in the preparation of the weekly bulletin. Other assignments and projects as assigned by the pastor. Requirement Experience in parish or business office setting, or equivalent combination of relevant education and related work experience. Strong demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Excellent organizational and time management competencies. Strong verbal and written communications, organizational, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in team environment and has a "Service Mindset" when working with others. Able to identify issues and propose recommendations/solutions. Can be entrusted with highly confidential information. Strong drive to achieve results. QUALIFICATIO NS: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree or relevant coursework preferred. Spanish proficiency required. Valid Illinois driver's license in good standing. Minimum of one (1) year in a supervisory or team lead role; two (2) years in animal welfare, social services, or community-based programs preferred. Strong communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills with staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency in using Google Suite and database systems. Comfortable working in the field, with volunteers, and in dynamic outdoor environments. SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Full-time, Tuesday through Saturday (typical shifts 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. or 10 a.m.-6 p.m.) with flexibility for evenings or weekends to support events and training. Field-based roles, frequent outdoor work, and physical demands, including lifting, bending, and transporting equipment or animals. Dynamic, mission-driven work environment with direct interaction with the public, caretakers, staff, and volunteers. This position exists to serve priesthood leaders by providing temples, headquarters, and other facilities for their use to help bring souls unto Christ.
