Students will be supervised by the professional, committed, and proactive officers of the Lenexa Police Department. Interns should be highly motivated persons seeking a career in law enforcement. These interns will complete training tasks, written reports, and participate in ride-alongs with numerous officers and specialized units. The program is highly structured, with the intent of providing the intern with the education and experience required for possible future law enforcement careers. Historically, many of our interns have had success in obtaining full-time LPD positions upon graduation. Key Responsibilities of Intern Program * Completes a minimum of 320 hours with the Lenexa Police Department. Hours may be added, if necessary, at the request of the student/university. * Completes hands-on training; participates in ride-alongs, and learns the skills needed for specialized units, including patrol, SWAT, investigations, K-9 and support services. * Completes mirror reports that will give them practical work experience in documentation and also allowing officers to critique work and performance. * Completes a research paper that will be submitted to the Sergeant overseeing the intern program. Qualifications Minimum: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Must be enrolled in an associate, bachelors, or graduate degree program that requires an internship. As EMTs, candidates can expect to be trained in all aspects of medical emergency response by hands-on practical application of medical emergency response methodologies, along with the opportunity to work towards 1200 hours of experience for Paramedic School (California). This is an unpaid Volunteer/Intern position for Active Duty Service members participating in the SkillBridge program prior to completion of military service. Internship is limited to 180 days, however amount of days will be based on unit command approval. Must be available to work 40 hour per week, schedule will be four, 10 hour shifts.     Working Title: Internship Salary: To Be Determined by the Agency Law Clerk Internship State of Florida Opportunities are located throughout Florida Internship Overview and Responsibilities: The State of Florida is seeking motivated individuals to join our workforce. Our internship opportunities offer bright, highly motivated law school students and recent graduates a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the operations of state government while obtaining valuable on-the-job training. Law clerks will work on a broad range of assignments, including both transactional and litigation-related work. General duties include legal research and writing, discovery, and trial/hearing preparation. The ideal candidate would be a first, second- or third-year law student, possessing excellent research and writing skills, the ability to work efficiently and independently with a moderate amount of supervision, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. This is an ideal internship opportunity for those interested in public service after graduation or in fields related to administrative law, litigation or contracts. Applications are accepted year-round. Internships may be paid or unpaid and there is no guarantee of employment. Agencies that have a current need for an intern will be reviewing applications to place qualified students within their respective agency. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. * Ability to work independently as well as with others. * Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively. * Ability to research and analyze laws and regulations. * Ability to draft legal documents. * Ability to think critically. * Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.) Minimum Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in a juris doctor program or graduated within the last twelve months from an accredited college or university juris doctor degree program.
