What you bring to the table
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Valid U.S. driver's license issued by the state of legal residence with proper endorsements if required
No more than two convictions in the past two-year period for traffic violations, no DUI convictions in the past three years, no driver's license suspensions in the past three years.
Minimum of six months of commercial driving experience (any industry) OR three months of driving experience in the food and beverage delivery industry required.

Who You Are:
You want to provide safe and efficient transportation for our residents. This role works closely with activities to drive residents to and from appointments or events in a timely, friendly, and safe manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Transport residents to and from various locations such as: shopping, medical appointments, banks, and social events.
Complete bus safety check daily, prior to driving bus.
Maintain accurate and current safety documentation for safety checks (Community Bus Binder).
Keep bus clean, inside and out.
Conduct preventative maintenance procedures and complete proper documentation per maintenance schedule.
Inform Executive Director in writing of any mechanical problems.
Communicate with activities director about success of outings.
Shuttle residents and the general public to special events in the community.
Other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position serves as a temporary placement for new route drivers in training. Trainee will have the opportunity to learn to safely operate all school buses under all types of weather conditions, including, but not limited to fog, rain, sleet, snow, and ice. Responsibilities will include safely transporting students and other authorized persons over regular "to and from school" routes, and on field, co-curricular, and special or extra activity trips as authorized by the school district officials. HOURLY RATES:
Subs for Route Driver in Training: (25-26 SY) C2 - $19.55 per hour
Non-experienced applicants will start at C2 $19.55 an hour and move up to E2 $24.13 an hour after training. Drivers with relatable experience and/or eligible driving credentials may start at E2 $24.13 an hour.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position transports program children to and from home during school days and is a critical part of the team in maintaining the safety of the children and the continued growth and sustainability of Latino Network's early childhood programs. The bus driver will also on occasion transport parents and program children to the center's activities. The bus driver also ensures that the highest possible safety standards are followed in the operation and maintenance of the assigned vehicle. Follows all state, local, and organizational requirements. The bus driver also plays a key role in the continued development of the children while in their care. When possible and following all safety protocols the bus driver will engage the children through songs and open-ended questions, continuing to provide a safe learning environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections for the operation of the bus, including all emergency equipment; record inspections on daily logs.
Maintain bus records, keep all mileage records, maintenance records, and gasoline purchases, and submit to Facilities Manager as required.
Bus maintenance will be scheduled and completed in collaboration with the IT/Facilities manager.
Ensure the bus has all required safety equipment on board, useable, and unobstructed.
Keep bus clean, free of debris and any safety hazards at all times. Conduct Emergency Evacuations at minimum three (3) times per year.
Provide School Bus and Pedestrian Safety training to children and parents within the first thirty (30) days of school.
Work with facilities manager to establish and maintain the most economical daily route. Ensure timely communication of any schedule adjustments/changes to parents and preschool director.
Maintain a current student roster including the child's name, address, and estimated time of pick-up/drop-off and name(s) of adults authorized to pick up children from the bus stop, and a map of the route in the bus and in the classroom for substitute drivers and classroom teachers.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date emergency contact information on all children in the program.
Ensure each child is released to the care of an authorized individual on the Permission to Release form.
Observe and report incidents of concern of children on the bus to the Preschool Director.
Report all accidents to the proper authorities per state requirements.
Assist with the required use of seat belts for all passengers, and ensure that all children are placed in appropriate height/weight child safety restraints.

Learn and implement quickly new laws governing traffic safety, passenger loading and student discipline;
Understand and follow emergency procedures in a crisis situation to ensure the safety of the students (i.e. accidents, road rage, bus breakdowns, earthquakes, assaults);
Drive safely during all weather conditions;
Maintain discipline of high needs students during the pick-up, transportation and delivery of students;
Maintain confidentiality of any information which may include but not be limited to students behavior, health, special needs, program, changes, staff members;
Keep timely, legible records and reports;
Remain flexible when schedules, traffic and emergency needs interrupt the regular flow of work
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, dispatch, staff, students, parents and community;
Associate with physically and emotionally handicapped students in the prescribed appropriate manner;
Be available to attend District sponsored training;
Inspect buses daily, reporting problems in writing to supervisor;
Anticipate problems with routes, traffic and/or students and bring to supervisor's immediate attention;
Regular and punctual attendance;
Participate in a random drug and alcohol misuse prevention program required by Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991;
Must meet the qualifications of Oregon Department of Education requirements of OAR 581-053-0006;
Drivers must meet physical qualification for commercial drivers listed in title 49 CFR 391.41-391.49.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION AND CAPABILITIES
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience driving a school bus with special needs students preferred.
A driving record that conforms to the requirements of the State Department of Education for issuance of a school bus driver's license.

Hold or acquire upon employment a valid first aid card and maintain throughout employment.
