This position is responsible for learning all production, management, and supervision operations of their assigned Midwest Manufacturing production facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
Production
Ensure that all product is built in the most efficient way
Ensure that all orders are filled within an acceptable lead time.
Involved in setting and evaluating production quotas, both quantity and quality
Manage and lead team members in your area
Work with supervisors and managers in your area to accomplish goals
Come up with innovative ideas to improve current processes
Facility Maintenance and Utilization
Keep all production facilities in good repair, orderly, and clean
Use equipment to capacity to fill orders
Safety
Ensure all safety policies are enforced, all training is up to date, and all equipment is guarded and well maintained.
Keep all safety training and maintenance documented
Keep open communication with all Team Members regarding safety issues
Attain the highest profit dollars possible
Balance inventory and reduce stock to ensure maximum turn and in-stock position.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in a manufacturing, engineering, or management related field preferred or equivalent management experience
Willing and able to relocate to other plant locations for promotions
Working knowledge of modern sales and management methods and techniques

Role Overview:
We are looking for a self-motivated intern to prototype the development of AI-driven sense-plan-act architecture that supports the development, testing, and validation of autonomous robotic systems in manufacturing plants. In this role, you will focus on developing camera- and LiDAR-based wheel-drive robotic system, design technical specification, creating and executing test plan, integrating the software with physical and simulation platforms, and enabling teams to accomplish the technical and business objectives.
You will work cross-functionally with experts in autonomy, contributing to system-level validation and the continuous improvement of system robustness and validation workflows.
Localization
* Evaluate and test LiDAR-based localization repositories.
* Investigate Gaussian splatting localization pipelines and assess feasibility for embedded platforms.
* Explore machine-learning techniques for feature point correspondence between image frames.
* Implement and benchmark place recognition algorithms using computer vision.
* Integrate dynamic object handling into localization workflows.

About the Role:
As an Autonomous Driving Software Engineer Intern, you will contribute to the design, development, and validation of cutting-edge software powering self-driving systems. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers across AV Platform teams to build scalable, safety-critical software for autonomous vehicles operating in real-world environments.
What You'll Do:
* Develop, test, and deploy production-ready code across components of vehicle platform software.
* Quickly ramp up on assigned codebase, product area, and/or system.
* Complete assigned tasks efficiently with few iterations.
* Identify problem statements, outline optimal solutions, account for tradeoffs and edge cases
* Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design resign.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, systems, test, and safety to ensure seamless software integration.
* Communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
* Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
* Experience with modern object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python) preferably in a production or applied project environment.
* Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience with software development through internships, class projects, personal projects, or coding competitions.
* Experience developing and testing software through internships, coursework, or personal projects.
* Familiarity with Linux/POSIX environments and exposure to embedded systems or robotics projects.
* Understanding of networking fundamentals relevant to embedded or distributed systems.
* Experience with robotics frameworks (e.g., ROS), embedded Linux platforms, or common sensors (e.g., cameras, lidar, radar, IMUs) is a plus.
* Interest or coursework related to safety-critical or high-reliability systems (automotive, aerospace, medical) is beneficial.

The College Internship Program at Yanfeng provides you with real world projects via full-time work through the summer break with hands-on, career-specific experience (from May through the beginning of August).
