The VideoEditor is responsible for both shooting and editing a wide range of video projects, including educational content, marketing pieces, training sessions, and live webinars. This role requires strong technical skills and specialized knowledge in camera operation, video editing, and content creation across diverse formats. The VideoEditor may also contribute to visual effects, motion graphics, and video asset management, including server maintenance, backups, and tape-based archiving. Experience working in collaborative editing environments with shared storage is essential, while a background in live production, both in-studio and on-location, is highly valued. A musical background is a plus but not required. This position plays a key role in ensuring video content is produced with creativity, technical precision, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Shooting and editing a variety of video projects, utilizing skills in camera operation for capturing footage, and editing diverse content including creative educational materials, marketing videos, training sessions, and live webinars.
Deciding the pacing, tone, and story structure of the final product.
Choosing what footage to include or exclude for creative effect.

The Job Title role is

Duties: Video production: conceptualize script, shoot and edit high-quality video content for recruitment campaigns, academic programs, athletics, advancement and campus events. Brand Storytelling: translate university goals and narratives into compelling visual stories that inspire and engage target audiences. Multi-Platform Delivery: produce videos optimized for use across multiple platforms (web, social media, broadcast, live events, and presentations). Academic & Recruitment Media: develop faculty and student profiles, academic program features, and promotional materials to support enrollment growth. Advancement/Donor Engagement: create video content that highlights donor impact, foundation initiatives, and alumni success stories. Athletics Media Projects: lead the creation of larger-scale athletic video projects, including program highlight reels, sponsor promotional videos, and facility overview features that showcase the scope and energy of Mulerider Athletics. Project Management: manage video projects from concept through final delivery, ensuring timely completion and alignment with university branding. Collaboration: work closely with admissions, academic departments, advancement and athletics. Equipment & Archive Management: maintain video production equipment, organize footage, and manage digital asset archives. Student Membership: supervise and train student assistants or interns in video production best practices and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in film, video production, communications, multimedia, or related field; experience producing video content for higher education, athletics, and/or nonprofit organizations; familiarity with marketing, recruitment, or fundraising communications; demonstrated experience in videography, including camera position, lighting, audio, and editing; proficient in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or comparable); experience with the use of motion graphics, live streaming, and drone videography; strong storytelling and creative direction skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail; excellent communication and collaboration skills.
