HOURLY PAY RATE: $19.50 - 32.00*

2nd shift position
* Welder performs Tig welding to repair and salvage a wide variety of simple castings. Non-certified and is limited to non-aerospace jobs only.
* Knowledge and ability to work with the alloys produced by the plant and to meet x-ray and zyglo standards is preferred.
* Works from shop orders, material specifications and other written or verbal instructions. Plans the sequence of operations, selects and sets welding currents and frequency.
* Makes other selections of materials and adjustment to equipment as previously determined or as instructed by supervision.
* Exercises care in welding to obtain proper penetration and to avoid burning, inclusions or other welding defects.
* Perform necessary routing and cleaning of defective areas prior to welding. Also grinds and blends after welding to meet blueprint specifications.
* Must be able to use verniers, micrometers, ultrasonic thickness gauge, and a variety of other measuring instruments.
* Detect and report faulty operations, defective material and unusual conditions to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
* Must successfully meet all qualification requirements specified in PCC Quality Control Procedure SP9.2.
* Must know how to look up and understand customer weld requirements, prior to initiating repair work.

What You Will Do
Plan and perform hand fusion, machine welding or other associated metal joining process where standard tools and methods can be used or altered to achieve desired results.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reads and follows blueprints and work orders, ensuring a quality product that meets customer demands.
Welds different facets of aluminum trailers, including but not limited to: tacking, clamping, and welding with proper bead size on bases and cages by the work order; ensures the quality of welds for structural integrity.
Obtains raw materials from the Material Handlers.
Buff out rough edges using a hand-held power grinder.
Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues, including but not limited to, defects in material, damage to the trailer, and deviations from the work order.
Ensures that the finished product meets quality expectations. Strives for the highest level of quality and understands the need for continuous improvement; supports the concept of “good enough is never good enough”.
Maintains a clean and safe work area; works to minimize scrap, places unused material back in the appropriate area, and disposes of waste appropriately.
Follows all safety procedures, wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and immediately reports any accidents or near misses to the supervisor.

This role is:
Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
Pratt & Whitney North Berwick is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Position Summary
The Silencer Welder Technician I is responsible for welding, assembling, and finishing suppressor components to meet exacting quality and cosmetic standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, precision TIG welding skills, and the ability to safely operate welding and finishing equipment in a production environment.
This is an early-career to mid-level role intended for candidates with 1-3 years of TIG welding experience who are looking to grow within a precision firearms manufacturing environment. You will work closely with experienced welders, engineers, and production staff while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform TIG welding on suppressor components with precision and consistency
Assemble and inspect suppressor parts to ensure compliance with quality standards
Grind, file, and finish welded components to required specifications
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings
Use precision measuring instruments including calipers and micrometers
Ensure structural integrity and visual quality of finished components
Troubleshoot welding and assembly issues and make adjustments as needed
Operate and perform basic maintenance on welding and finishing equipment
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Collaborate with team members and engineers to improve production processes
Cross-train in other Production areas as needed to support operational flexibility
