What you'll do: The Welder position is responsible for welding various materials associated with the company's product lines including, but not limited to, truck bodies and chassis, motorhome chassis, and specialty vehicles. The Aluminum Extrusion Welder is responsible for welding aluminum components and assemblies used in extrusion-based products. This position requires strong welding skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while meeting quality and production standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Weld aluminum extrusions and components using MIG and/or TIG processes. - Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols. - Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting parts. - Set up and adjust welding equipment based on specifications. - Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy. - Repair weld defects as needed. - Maintain a clean and safe work area. - Follow company safety policies and OSHA requirements. - Meet production and efficiency standards. - Communicate with supervisors and quality personnel. - Perform other duties as assigned. DEPARTMENT: Tube Mill SUPERVISED BY: Tube Mill Supervisor RESPONSIBILITIES: Turn on welder and operating stations for de-coiler and accumulator. Operate a forklift and overhead crane. Load de-coiler with material for accumulator to pull in. Make sure welders, de-coiler and accumulator are set to run. Check label, coil thickness, and width for material conformity. Enter coil labels into Kiosk then apply to a sheet and turn in at end of shift. Scans the coil into the tube mill machine using the Phoenix Bridge. Keeps track of weight needed to fill the work orders. Notifies operator of any mislabeled coils or shortages with slit coils. Before butt-welding insure both ends are joined and flattened properly. MUST grind every weld! Watch for tail-out of coil and alert mill operator if accumulator supply is low. Fill accumulator then set to mill match. Monitor Accumulator to ensure mill can attain maximum speed. Give instructions to other mill workers as needed. Assist on change overs for minimal downtime between production runs. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area for weekly inspections. Work with Maintenance and Engineering to improve equipment operation and uptime. Other duties as assigned. .
