For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Field New Tank Welder should expect to learn a broad overview of water tower welding, fabrication and erection. This position will work on new water tank construction sites performing various jobs such as grinding welds, moving material, general job site clean-up and assisting welders with re-positioning. Position Duties Comprehends and ensures welding procedures are followed and performed per specifications. Keep work area organized and clean to insure a safe environment. Examines work piece for defects to ensure conformance with specifications and records data as required. Corrects malformation in parts and bends in metal work pieces. Ability to use cutting and welding equipment. Possess basic time management skills to complete work on-time. Adhere to Maguire Iron's Personal Protective Equipment Policy and Safety Programs. Qualifications 3+ years of experience welding, fabrication and erection of water tanks. High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Loads and operates welding systems. Pieces weigh up to 25lbs. Make running adjustments as needed. Remove complete parts, using hoist, from system and place on conveyer for inspection. * Visually conduct required quality checks of welds. * Conduct required quality checks using basic measuring equipment. * Repair welds as needed. Beams weight up to 100lbs. when completed. (Hoist and conveyor line used to move completed beams.) Process repeated up to 80 times per day. * Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment as scheduled. * Perform machine-to-machine material handling as necessary within cell. * Accurately report daily and hourly activities on MOS documents, boards, schedules and other media as required. * Perform assigned daily 5S tasks. Keep machine and work area clean and free of safety hazards. * Follow safety procedures and exercise safe working habits while operating the machines. * Operate other material handling equipment such as Big Joes, pallet jacks, hoists, etc. * Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Area Facilitator. * Follow customer specifications and engineering drawings, gather required materials, lay-out, assemble and weld base or enclosure. Set up equipment and weld parts together using MIG, gas welding and any combination of arc welding processes. * Install specialized parts and components on enclosures, which may include insulation, Z-bar, doors, hinges, brackets using cutting, welding and grinding tools. * Install specialized parts and components on bases, which may include structural steel, flat and formed sheet metal / plate, lift and lugs. * Examine weld for appropriate size, quality and precision. * Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and rewelding as needed. * Operate crane or other lifting equipment to move and position base or other enclosure components to complete work on all areas of the enclosure. * Work with engineering staff to clarify information and obtain design changes as needed. * May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling as needed. * May operate a forklift to move materials and supplies. * Follow all established quality guidelines. * Maintain a clean and orderly work area. * Follow established safety guidelines. * Perform additional duties as requested.
