1988

The company also opened a new division in 1988, the Energy Services Division, to perform repair and upgrade services on fossil-fueled power plants as well as industrial units.

1995

In 1995 B&W opened the Clean Coal Environmental Development Facility, an Alliance, Ohio-based combustion and emissions testing facility that kept the company on the cutting edge of modern power generating technology.

2000

2000 Due to asbestos claims, B&W seeks Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection.

2003

The only new-capacity pulverized-coal-fired power plant under contract in the United States, the project is completed in 2003, ahead of schedule and under budget.

2005

Part of the company's reorganization plan, approved by a federal court in late 2005, called for the creation of a $1.9 billion fund to settle these claims.

2006

B&W files voluntary petition for Chapter 11 Reorganization to resolve asbestos liability claims, and emerges from this process in 2006.

2006 B&W emerges from bankruptcy.
