The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating clerical and administrative support functions within the Neurosurgery Department. Appropriately interacts with physicians, patients, family and staff. Supports unit activities to ensure smooth functioning of the surgical process and assures the appropriate clinical and insurance information is collected for the surgery scheduled. Responsibilities include but are not limited to personal management to include personnel selection, orientation/training, scheduling, development/mentoring, performance appraisals, coaching and counseling, disciplinary actions, physician relationships, intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities, quality control and process improvement activities, regulatory compliance and fiscal control.
Essential Job Functions
Maintain a detailed knowledge of the OR information system's functionality and structure to ensure Neurosurgery Surgery Scheduling is seamless.
Understand the implications of the data and how the data is utilized. Participate in maintaining the integrity of the system data.
Develop and maintain records and files in an organized manner.
Communicate appropriately with customers to identify concerns and issues, investigate and coordinate resolution of non‑routine problems. Initiate appropriate follow‑up to ensure that all matters requiring attention are addressed promptly and efficiently.
Refer more complex problems to the Manager or Director as appropriate.
Identify needs and set goals for own professional growth and development; meet all system/departmental educational requirements.
Maintain competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance.
Design and produce documents, forms, reports and data graphs for projects and programs based on needs identified by the staff and/or leadership. Duties include data gathering, database extractions, and data analysis for various projects and preparation of a variety of reports and data graphs requiring independent judgment with minimal supervision.
Provide routine administrative and secretarial support to the department staff including answering two incoming telephone lines and call coordination, surgery scheduling, and file management.
Communicate appropriately with customers to identify concerns and issues, investigate and coordinate resolution of non‑routine problems. Initiate appropriate follow‑up to ensure that all matters requiring attention are addressed promptly and efficiently.
Refer more complex problems to the Clinical Coordinators, Manager or Director as appropriate.
Comprehensive Stroke Center Education Requirements.
Required to complete 1 education hour annually for DNV Comprehensive Stroke Program requirements.

Train, develop, support, and manage Revenue Cycle staff while supporting a team environment.
Develop and prepare operational strategies to increase cash flow, reduce aged accounts receivable, and reduce bad debt.
Provide leadership with revenue/payment data, reports, metrics, and presentations.
Ensures analysis and correction of root causes of denials, billing errors, database errors, etc. that result in non-payment or denied claims.
Resolves escalated reimbursement issues with payers.
Maintain monthly dashboard including KPIs, production numbers, etc., monthly.
Research and collaborate on regulation updates to ensure all necessary changes are incorporated into daily workflows.
Create double check process for postings to electronic health record software on aweekly/monthly basis.
Assist Controller/CFO on payment analysis for the various commercial payers as it relates to fee schedules, contracts, and the various plan offerings under each insurance plan.
Reviews and investigates the gaps in providers that are credentialed with client insurances and receives approval from Controller/CFO.
Oversees maintenance, updates of the relevant modules, set-up, and data tables in the electronic health record systems and related billing engines.
Collaborates with the Revenue Cycle team to ensure billing functions are being maintained or added as necessary in the electronic health record systems.
Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Team for improved data mining and financial reporting tools as it relates to revenue cycle.
Collaborates with other departments/programs to achieve workflow efficiencies and monitor and implement changes needed to ensure effective and timely billing and cash collection.
Collaborates with the front desk Intake employees for billing procedures, insurances, client payments, petty cash, etc.
Working in collaboration with Controller/CFO and accounting employees as it relates to revenue cycle management.
Adhere to HR/Company policies and procedures, evaluate, and approve time cards, and time off requests.
Comply with all CMS, Federal and State regulations, payor guidelines and ensure consistent and complaint coding application.
Directs resolution of billing and payment issues and ensures proper communication to executive and program leadership in accordance with established parameters.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business related field required.
Eligibility may be established on the basis of six (6) years experience in lieu of a degree.
Minimum three (3) years progressive experience in health care billing field, preferably mental health services.
This experience should include supervisory and/or leadership duties.

Review the resident's medical record for specific treatments, medication orders, diets, labs etc., as for implementation and follow up.
Requisition and arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the health care provider, and in accordance with our established procedures.

Communicate with written (24-hour report) and oral reports/recommendations concerning any changes in resident condition and other activities of your shift to nursing management.
Fill out and complete accident/incident reports involving residents and submit to Director of Nursing.
Complete assessments and all other medical record documentation as required to provide care services.
Provide resident and family information for care conferences or other meetings.
Report all discrepancies noted concerning physician's orders, diet change, charting error, etc., to the supervisor.
Complete clinically accurate documentation according to policy.
Review the resident medical documentation and progress notes from the interdisciplinary team to determine if the care plan/service plans are being followed. Report any concerns to your supervisor.

Medication Administration Functions
Prepare and administer medications ordered by the health care provider.
Communicate with pharmacy to ensure resident medications are available for administration.
Ensure that an adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents. Report needs to the supervisor.
Review medication administration record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the health care provider's order. Report concerns to your supervisor.
Dispose of drugs and narcotics as required, and in accordance with established procedures.
Personnel Functions
Supervise your nursing unit to ensure that all personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
Work with the Director of Nursing to resolve staff performance issues including those that may lead to termination.
Report complaints and grievances, to management and work with the Director of Nursing for a plan of action.
Safety and Sanitation Functions
Assure and make available protective equipment for staff.
Maintain nursing service work areas (i.e., nurses' stations, medicine preparation rooms, etc.), resident rooms, and treatment areas in a clean and sanitary manner.

The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to adult and pediatric victims of physical and sexual assault. The sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) exam may include a medical-forensic exam, evidence collection, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, and may support and participate in legal proceedings. The non-fatal strangulation (NFS) exam may include a medical-forensic exam with evidence collection, photographic documentation, referrals as stated above, and participation in subsequent legal proceedings. The FNE may perform other forensic evaluations and collect evidence as needed.

Duties:
Assists the department pathologists (3 physicians) in performing gross surgical exams, frozen sections, fresh specimens e.g. breast margins, and autopsies based on criteria that is documented in operation protocol (only 2 autopsies over last 5 years). Receives, accessions, and accurately processes surgical, autopsy, or diagnostic tissue specimens from various hospital departments and physician offices. Performs other work in clinical Laboratory and Histology as requested. Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations. Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.
Requirements: Master's degree and certification as a Pathology Assistant or completion of Pathology Residency Program and at least one (1) year related experience

Total pathology volume of 15,000/year with approximately 50% dermatology, 50% surgical, 4,000 paps and 500-600 non-gyn cytology. Complete lab remodel in 2017 and updated immunohistochemistry, flexible lab about adding stains Pathology Assistant available for grossing and all other functions. Histology lab is located across the hallway Immunofluorescence is sent out to UCSF If a consulted is needed, there is an easy process to send out to multiple locations Pathologists are collegial and will share cases for 2nd and 3rd opinions Level II Verified Trauma Center, 349 acute care beds, largest emergency department in Montana 420+ members on medical staff representing 40 specialties at a level II trauma center with vast pathology

The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to adult and pediatric victims of physical and sexual assault. The sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) exam may include a medical-forensic exam, evidence collection, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, and may support and participate in legal proceedings. The non-fatal strangulation (NFS) exam may include a medical-forensic exam with evidence collection, photographic documentation, referrals as stated above, and participation in subsequent legal proceedings. The FNE may perform other forensic evaluations and collect evidence as needed.
Essential Job Functions
* Perform a complete medical forensic examination to include completed head to toe medical assessment for trauma, detailed genital/anal examination; Forensic specimen collection and supportive documentation; Photo documentation of bodily and genital/anal injuries with competent documentation. Demonstrates care for the patient, not just for evidence collection purposes.
* Assess patient for mandatory reporting status and report when appropriate.
* Maintain chain of custody and adhere to evidence guidelines.
* Ensures patient/medical record confidentiality (HIPPA).
* Cleans and sanitizes SANE room upon completion of exam.
* Participates in periodic case review to include documentation and photographs.
* Maintains clinical education hours relevant to sexual assault or forensics.
* Takes responsibility for own professional growth and development needs; meets all system/departmental educational requirements.
* Demonstrates collaborative, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patient's families, visitors, and the interdisciplinary care team.
* Consideration is given to the appropriateness of care based on the population specific needs of the patient.
