Job Description
The Senior Data Analyst plays a key role in shaping Idaho State University's fundraising and engagement strategy through clear, accurate, and timely data insights. This position designs and maintains the data sets, reports, and dashboards that inform campaign planning, prospect strategy, and leadership decisions.
Working closely with the Director of Foundation Data & Research, the Senior Data Analyst helps ensure the Foundation's data systems are reliable, well-structured, and aligned with fundraising goals. The role focuses on building and automating reports, maintaining documentation, and helping staff confidently use self-service dashboards.
The Senior Data Analyst supervises two part-time team members - a Data Specialist and a CPI intern - and models high standards of accuracy, practicality, and collaboration across the Foundation's data work.

Key Responsibilities
Campaign, Portfolio, and Reporting Analytics
● Manage and maintain the Foundation's core reporting datasets, ensuring accuracy, governance, and fiscal-year-alignment for major, annual, and planned giving.
● Build and maintain dashboards and scorecards to monitor directors of development portfolio activity, prospect progress, and gift projections.
● Provide standardized lists and reports to support fundraising appeals, events, stewardship, and research.
● Partner with the Senior Prospect Research Analyst to support director of development portfolio reviews, document decisions, and follow-through.
Data Modeling and Reporting
● Build and maintain data models that integrate information from CRM, financial, and engagement systems.
● Design and maintain simple, reliable dashboards and reports that show fundraising, prospect, and engagement performance.
● Conduct regular deduplication checks and validation audits to ensure data integrity.
● Work with the Director to define how data is organized and documented so that reporting is consistent, transparent, and easy to maintain.
● Recommend improvements to data workflows that make reporting more efficient and reliable.
Donor Segmentation and Predictive Analytics
● Develop donor and alumni segmentation models that inform targeted outreach and campaign design.
● Support exploratory and predictive modeling (e.g., likelihood to give, engagement scoring, pipeline forecasting) using appropriate statistical or machine-learning techniques.
● Collaborate with Alumni Engagement, Annual Giving, Communications, and other teams within advancement to operationalize segments for solicitation, stewardship, and engagement efforts.
Collaboration, Training, and Self-Service Enablement
● Collaborate with directors of development and Foundation leadership to identify needs and design solutions that inform strategic decisions.
● Supervise and coach two part-time staff; assign priorities and review deliverables to ensure accuracy and consistency.
● Promote data literacy by creating clear documentation and offering training on dashboards, metrics, and data definitions.
Continuous Improvement
● Evaluate existing reporting workflows and propose automation or redesign to improve efficiency.
● Research emerging BI and analytics tools and implement enhancements as appropriate.
● Participate in professional learning through CASE, Apra, or other peer analytics networks, incorporating new best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, Finance, or a related discipline) and at least three years of progressively responsible experience, OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, nine years total relevant professional experience (six years substitute for the degree and at least three years role specific experience).
● At least one year mentoring and supervisory experience.
● Demonstrated expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
● Experience with SQL, relational databases, and data modeling concepts.
● Ability to translate complex business questions into analytical deliverables.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and executive reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with advancement CRMs such as Raiser's Edge NXT or Salesforce NPSP.
● Familiarity with CASE Global Reporting Standards and advancement metrics such as LYBUNT/SYBUNT and proposal pipeline health.
● Experience with Python or R for data cleaning, automation, or statistical analysis.
● Experience with predictive modeling, donor segmentation, or clustering techniques.
● Experience supporting comprehensive fundraising campaigns.
● Experience working in philanthropy in a higher education and/or non-profit setting.

Operates the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, out-going and inter-office calls as applicable. They are to adhere to policies, and provide excellent customer service in these interactions with the appropriate level of compassion. Patient Access staff will be held accountable for point of service goals as assigned.
Responsible for the utilization of quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected. These activities may include accounts for other employees, departments, and facilities. Conducts audits of accounts and assures that all forms are completed accurate, timely to meet audit standards and provides statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
Responsible for the pre-registration of patient accounts prior to patient visits. This may include inbound and outbound calling to obtain demographic, insurance, and other patient information including the patient financial liabilities including collecting point of service collections as well as past due balances including payment plan options.
Explains general consent for treatment forms to the patient/guarantor/legal guardian, obtains necessary signatures and witnesses name.
Explains and distributes patient education documents, such as Important Message from Medicare, Important Message from Tricare, Observation Forms, MOON form, Consent forms, and all forms implemented for future services.
Reviews eligibility responses in insurance verification system and appropriately selects the applicable insurance plan code, enters benefit data into system to support POS (Point of Service Collections) and billing processes to assist with a clean claim rate.
Responsible for accurately screening of medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software to inform Medicare patients of possible non-payment of test by Medicare and distribution of the ABN as appropriate. Responsible for distribution and documentation of other designated forms and pamphlets.

Job Description
The Senior Prospect Research Analyst is a strategic partner to fundraising leadership and Directors of Development. The role leads the quarterly portfolio review program, advances moves-management discipline across principal and major gift portfolios, and delivers high‑quality research, analysis, and briefings that accelerate philanthropic outcomes. The ideal candidate blends traditional prospect research with modern data analytics, translating internal and external signals into clear recommendations that drive action. The successful candidate will report to the Director, Foundation Data and Research and supervise a Prospect Research Analyst.

Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management and Moves Strategy
●Co-lead the quarterly portfolio review process: prepare coverage and activity dashboards; facilitate review meetings; document adds/drops, next steps, and accountability follow-ups.
●Maintain the Portfolio Guide (stage definitions, movement expectations, contact/visit cadence, portfolio size/coverage targets) in partnership with the Director.
●Monitor pipeline health (stage aging, coverage ratios, proposal velocity) and recommend portfolio right-sizing and reallocations.
●Support moves management discipline: surface next best actions, create call sheets/prep briefs, and coordinate with gift officers and leadership on movement plans.
Prospect Research and Intelligence
●Continuously strengthen ISU's prospect pipeline by combining internal Foundation's data with vetted public sources to surface affinity, interests, and philanthropic capacity.
●Apply structured research methods to analyze financial and biographical indicators; produce decision-ready profiles and strategy notes; and recommend the next, highest-impact actions for each prospect.
●Scan news and market signals and translate relevant developments into prospect strategies aligned to ISU priorities (academics, athletics, scholarships, capital projects).
●Produce concise, executive-ready briefs for priority visits and solicitations.
Data Stewardship, Reporting and Audits
●Audit principal and major gift pools, portfolios, and proposals to ensure accuracy, deduplication, and stage integrity.
●Partner with Data Analyst to produce routine portfolio and pipeline reporting, including activity, coverage, and outcomes by unit and fundraiser.
●Ensure compliance with privacy, CASE standards, and institutional policies; document sources and methodologies for repeatability and audit readiness.
Collaboration, Training and Standards
●Serve as a strategic partner to the development team; provide ongoing research, qualification lists, and cultivation/solicitation strategies.
●Review and refine research deliverables for clarity, sourcing, and tone; uphold team style and citation standards.
●Coach a Prospect Research Analyst and student staff; deliver practical training on research methods, brief writing, and moves-management basics.
●Contribute to a learning culture by sharing best practices with Advancement and Foundation colleagues and building peer networks across institutions.
Continuous Improvement

Minimum Qualifications
