The Sinclair MathematicsDepartment offers an associate degree program emphasizing the field. The department is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty to teach face-to-face for day, evening, and weekend courses at our downtown Dayton campus.

The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, located at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a metabolic geneticist to join in our clinical, research and teaching activities. Full time, part time and leadership opportunities may be available for the appropriately experienced candidate.
The Metabolic Subsection of the Division of Genetics and Genomic Medicine serves inpatients and outpatients of all ages. The successful candidate will join an expanding team that consists of ten clinical geneticists (two metabolic), 21 genetic counselors, three full-time metabolic dieticians, three nurse practitioners, and metabolic medical assistants/LPNs to provide expert care to patients with metabolic genetic disease. Biochemical genetics laboratory services on site.
The Division also supports a Clinical Genetics residency program, and fellowships in Medical Biochemical, Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics. Nationwide Children's is 1 of 8 Regional Genetics Centers funded by the OhioDepartment of Health, serving over 3.5 million (>750,000 pediatric age) in central, northwest and southeast Ohio, with 35,000 births annually. In addition to biochemical laboratory services, Nationwide boasts on-site cytogenetics and molecular diagnostic labs with easy access to on-site rapid genome sequencing as well as flexibility to send-out testing as needed. There are a number of active clinical trials focused on metabolics conducted through the Division.

This instructor position in the Department of Mathematics will consist of teaching up to 3 introductory mathematics courses, but no more than 11 credit hours per semester.

Master's degree in Mathematics or related area required by start date

Experience teaching OHIO University undergraduate Mathematics courses or courses considered equivalent under the State of Ohio's OT36 transfer system

Essential Functions: * Supervises and provides input to students during open laboratory times in the practice of skills. * Evaluates students' skills using written criteria in nursing curricula. Collaborates with the laboratory coordinator for students in need of remediation, referral, and scheduling of make- ups.
* Informs laboratory coordinator and faculty of student deficiencies/difficulties related to skill acquisition.
* Assists with tracking student open laboratory attendance, skill competency evaluations, and the recording of statistics.
* Provides orientation to new full time lab faculty and part time laboratory assistants to the day to day operations of the various laboratory settings.
* Prepares equipment, supplies, visual aids, and physical set up and tear down for laboratory activities in the various laboratory settings.
* Participates in the review and update of all laboratory activities.
* Assists college laboratory instructors as needed during scheduled college laboratory activities.
* Participates in end of semester course meetings with faculty and laboratory staff and provides input regarding the clinical and/or laboratory components of the course.
* Collaborates with faculty in the use of simulation and simulators in the various nursing courses.
* Maintains knowledge of mannequin functioning and regular maintenance. Provides necessary troubleshooting when needed. Communicates issues to the assistant chair of laboratory operations.
* Assists with simulation demonstrations for individuals, internal and external groups.
* Assists with inventory in the various laboratory settings.
* Advises laboratory coordinator regarding laboratory equipment in need of repair, maintenance or updating as well as needed equipment, supplies and materials.
* Performs other duties related to the laboratory components of the program (e.g., operates mannequins and participates in simulation role-playing and debriefing).
* Based on program need, Laboratory Faculty may cover a lecture (theory) or laboratory course as part of their 40 hour per week requirement. Due to the scheduling of course sections, the 40
hour per week requirement may fluctuate and will be averaged over the semester. Total hours in lecture and/or lab should not exceed those of a typical 15/16 lecture/lab course

* Knowledge of Registered Nursing basic and advanced skills.
* Knowledge of teaching strategies to teach Nursing skills.
* Knowledge of National Patient Safety Standards.
* Knowledge of the Ohio Board of Nursing Rules and scope of practice for Registered and Practical Nurses.
