Key Responsibilities:

Our Albany-area office is seeking an experienced civil engineer to support our growing practice in New York and the Northeast region. Candidates with a specialization in water resources, geotechnical or structural engineering are encouraged to apply. Experience in dam safety engineering is a plus.

**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Perform engineering activities for all phases of a project lifecycle, including field inspections, evaluation, analysis, design, and engineering services during construction.
+ Apply engineering principles to develop innovative solutions.
+ Water Resource examples include peak flow analyses for watersheds, dam breach modeling and inundation mapping, and design of hydraulic structures.
+ Geotechnical examples include subsurface investigations, evaluating instrumentation and monitoring data, soil and rock mechanics, foundation design, embankment dam design, seepage evaluations, slope stability analyses, and seismic analyses.
+ Structural and geostructural examples include design of hydraulic structures such as spillways and outlet works, dam stability and rehabilitation, retaining walls, cofferdams and support of excavation, and deep foundations.
+ Prepare design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings and technical specifications.
+ Field work, including assignments that may require travel away from the office. Field work might include:
+ Inspection of dams, levees, and other hydraulic structures.
+ Collection of data and measurements in the field.
+ Observation and logging of geotechnical test borings.
+ Observation of construction activities, and testing materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry and reinforcing steel.
+ Communication with contractors, surveyors, engineers, and project managers.
**Required Skills/Experience:**
+ 3+ years of professional experience.
+ Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program, with excellent academic achievement in relevant courses.
+ Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, and future ability to become a Licensed Professional Engineer.
+ Academic and/or professional experience in water resource, geotechnical or structural engineering.
+ Demonstrated expertise in engineering software related to one's field of specialization.
+ Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Candidate should be prepared to provide examples of their technical writing.
+ Time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
+ Critical thinking and the ability to begin and progress designs.
+ A strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform professionally with a team at a high level.

**Preferred Skills/Experience:**

We are looking for an experienced Engineer to join our growing Project Engineering team. Our team designs, specifies and commissions new and renovated biopharmaceutical process and clean utility equipment. We provide engineering support and lead deviation investigations for existing equipment and manufacturing processes to support the production of our life-changing medications.
As a Principal Project Engineer, a typical day might include the following:
+ Designing and specifying cGMP process equipment, piping, and/or controls including development and review of engineering documentation
+ Managing mid-sized to large projects related to process equipment and clean utilities including start-up and commissioning
+ Leading the design review, site acceptance and installation of equipment
+ Preparing piping and instrumentation diagrams and other related drawings
+ Developing Process Flow Diagrams for manufacturing processes
+ Supporting QA/Validation department by preparing design documents and assisting in protocol execution
+ Assisting in investigations of process equipment, utility systems, and control system anomalies, as well as safety incidents
+ Implementing corrective/preventative actions for existing equipment and manufacturing processes
+ Preparing engineering evaluations and test plans for and executing modification change control documentation
+ Supervising mechanical, electrical, and automation and engineering contractors
+ Traveling up to 10% of the time, both domestically and internationally
