Do you have a specific company in mind for your next career move? Have you been researching the ins and outs of companies that you love?
If you looked up Tesla Motors last week you might be more at home in sunny California. Maybe you wanted to know more about Coca Cola? Well so did the residents in Georgia. And if Burt’s Bees is your favorite beauty product you’ll be with like minded people in North Carolina.
Google offers a tool called Google Trends that lets you input a search term and see how popular that term is relative to other places.
For example, search for Costco and click on the map of the US to see that Oregon searches for that company more than any other state.
So all we had to do was put several hundred search queries into Google Trends to find ones that were searched more in, say, Texas than any other state. And, like magic, the map above was born.
We’ve listed the winner for each state below along with some other potential ‘winners’ we didn’t go with on the map. Some states won way too many times to count (Looking at you California, Oregon, and New York), so we only showed the really good ones below.
