Southland Holdings is seeking a Staff Accountant for our office in Grapevine. This candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, be highly organized, have an understanding of GAAP accounting. The Staff Accountant will support the month close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and job cost reporting. This position will work under the supervision of the accounting compliance manager. Other responsibilities include assisting in independent external financial audits as needed. Essential Duties Responsibilities * Prepare journal entries accurately and timely according to month close schedule * Prepare general ledger account reconciliations according to internal control processes * Assist operational project teams with financial reporting by entering and maintaining the contract and budgets within the accounting software. * Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams to deliver solutions for accounting and financial questions * Assist with external auditors by gathering supporting documentation to ensure documentation is provided timely for annual and quarterly financial statement audits. * Assist with new or adhoc requests from internal teams * Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential. The Mechanical Superintendent provides input and technical expertise for mechanical construction work on utility-scale solar EPC projects. Provides technical owner correspondence support. Inspects work performed by subcontractors, including ductwork, wiring, and pipe installations, to insure conformance with specifications. Installs doors, builds stairs, and lays hardwood floors. May supervise workers engaged in building timber structures, such as cofferdams, trestles, and supports for concrete forms. May make cost estimates for contracts. Performs other duties as described under Supervisor. May be designated according to area of specialization. Education High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience Work Experience Appropriate training and experience required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Physically, the worker must be capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Intellectually the worker must be able to apply and interpret principles of rational systems (bookkeeping, engines, electronics, building), to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; must have basic competencies in algebra, geometry, and shop mathematics. The worker must be able to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work. The amount of specific job training required to learn the techniques, information, and facility needed for average performance in this position is from 4 to 10 years.
