AB Christian Learning Center in collaboration with Read Fort Worth is helping to ensure that all children are ready to learn when they enter kindergarten, and reading on grade level by third grade. This VISTA project will result in an expansion of services to at-risk communities with the intent to increase the number of economically disadvantaged families transitioning from poverty to self-sufficiency. Member Duties : The VISTA member will develop the best practices and methods to communicate to vulnerable communities about programs, resources, and opportunities available to help families transition out of poverty. The VISTA member will accomplish this goal by developing and refining ABCLC's communication policies and procedures, improving the organization's communication, and improving the marketing of resource information and opportunities. Activities include reviewing and evaluating policies for best practices for email, phone, and internet communications. Developing a schedule/calendar for social media posts, developing templates for staff to use for posts, and reviewing and refining the template for the organization's monthly newsletter.

Mercy Street exists to cultivate mutually transforming relationships with inner-city youth through our Sports, Mentoring, and Leadership Institute Programs. Mercy Street serves over 3,100 children annually in West and South Dallas who are primarily Dallas Housing Authority residents and Dallas ISD students. Since 2003, Mercy Street has been working to address the historical low educational attainment and generational poverty experienced by families in West Dallas, one of the most concentrated areas of poverty in our city. In 2019, Mercy Street expanded into South Dallas where there are similar needs. Mercy Street is focused on serving students and families in Dallas Housing Authority communities (public housing) within the city. Mercy Street is focused on addressing historical low educational attainment and generational poverty experienced by our students and families. VISTA will research multi-source fundraising strategies for similar sized and scoped organizations. VISTA will create and procedural development documents to establish a strong foundations and corporate partners database. VISTA will participate in development and implementation of end of year giving campaign. VISTA will develop a fundraising plan for active volunteers. The Fundraising & Development VISTA will create systems to increase fundraising and development outcomes to expand the reach of Mercy Street's antipoverty programming. This position will report in-person/on-site 5 days a week.

By increasing funding, this will help to advance our mission to provide more education, mentorship, and family support. The community capacity-building work will strengthen "I Have a Dream" Foundation - Dallas programming for Dream Scholars and their families, ensuring that they receive the resources they need to succeed academically and personally. Member Duties : The VISTA member will research the organization, develop quality proposals, write grants, and develop a system to track grants and grant activities. The activities include researching the organization's background, mission, goals, target communities, and programs. Creating grant guidelines, policies, and procedures for identifying grants consistent with the mission and goals of IHDF and the communities being served. Writing and submitting grant proposals, and developing or identifying a system to track grant funds received, disbursed by the program, and follow-up reporting requirements. Preparing monthly reports that capture all upcoming grant opportunities, funding, and deadlines. Developing a policy and procedures manual detailing the processes.
