Candidate Background, Skills, and Experience
Must have a Bachelor's Degree
Must have experience as a Project Manager leading CMGC and/or Design-Build Heavy Civil projects
Must have Department of Transport (DOT) experience and be able to provide references from the DOT
Heavy civil knowledge and experience required; don't need to be technical expert in every component (e.g. bridges and highways) but must understand project scopes and mechanics

Responsibilities
The laborer will be required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 60 pounds, walk over uneven surfaces and climb on and off ladders and scaffolding.
Duties include safely using hand and power tools, Jack Hammer/Jumping Jack and maintaining clean and organized work areas.

This is a safety sensitive position as the laborer will often work around live traffic and active heavy equipment and machinery. Travel is required. Must be able to work Nights/Days.

The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing and submitting bids, cost estimates and proposals. This position will lead the bid process from initial review through final proposal, collaborating closely with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. The Senior Estimator will analyze project documents, assess risk, and produce detailed cost estimates to support strategic bidding and successful project delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategies to win work, including implementing cost-saving methods across purchasing, subcontracting, and labor management.
Develop and refine a robust estimating framework, including cost databases and templates, to support consistent and competitive project proposals.
Analyze all trades estimates and determine best cost estimate for project conditions.
Review and interpret drawings, specifications, geotechnical data, and other documentation, identifying scope, constraints, and opportunities.
Develop clear, complete cost estimates including materials, labor, equipment, trucking, crew production rates, and geotechnical considerations.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to ensure estimates align with field means and methods.
Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes, validate pricing, and determine the best value options for each project.
Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies for soil conditions, groundwater, weather, schedule, logistics, and phasing.
Lead or attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope reviews with clients, engineers, and subcontractors
Support bid strategy efforts, including value engineering, alternate approaches, and cost-saving opportunities.
Coordinate final handoff and turnover meetings to ensure proper transition to the project team after award.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and industry partners.
Lead by example, integrity and honesty to promote and maintain a positive work environment.
Maintain confidentiality with respect to sensitive items and information.
Perform additional duties assigned to support the success of the estimating department and project teams.
Experience, Education & Skills
7 years of proven heavy civil construction experience as an estimator leading bids.
5 years of experience working with earthwork, stormwater and wet utilities.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent work experience.
Demonstrated experience for bidding large and complex heavy civil projects.
Proficient in HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam and MS Office Software.
Experience in P6 and AGTEK is preferred but not required.
Proficiency in estimating mass earthwork (site grading, highways, mining, airports, dams, rock) and underground wet utilities (storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water, and related structures).
Demonstrated knowledge of large earthmoving equipment, including means and methods.
Demonstrated knowledge of other heavy civil trade scopes and pricing, including specialty subcontractors.
Strong interpersonal skills to interface with owner representatives, engineering firms, subcontractors, other team members and senior management.
Strong analytic skills and financial analysis skills
Proficiency in use of computer software applications including MS Office, HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam and MS Office Software. Knowledgeable in P6 and AGTEK preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
Location: This position is an onsite position based located in Aurora, CO.
Work Schedule: M-F, 7am to 5pm.
Travel -Some travel will be required to project locations and area offices.
Construction Site Environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
Office Environment - extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
The starting salary range for this position is $115,000-$150,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by several factors, including work location, job-related experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The Fire & Life Safety (FLS) Engineering Department primarily supports Kiewit's power generation, infrastructure, industrial and water work across all of North America. The FLS department is the go-to department within the Kiewit organization for all things fire protection and life safety related. This requires engineers within the FLS department to have a wide range of skills and knowledge ranging from site layout considerations, code and standard analysis, detailed design, to construction administration. These skills are then required to be applied across multiple project types and implementation methods from design-build to Engineering, Procurement, & Construction (EPC).
What separates Kiewit's FLS department from other firms is integration with construction. The FLS engineers are involved on projects from estimate through award including creation of bid documents, selection of subcontractors, review of submittals, and project close out. During design and procurement the FLS engineers work with our Kiewit construction personnel to ensure constructability, schedule, and costs. Responsibilities
* Provide fire protection and life safety design, analysis, construction support for industrial facilities.
* Perform fire hazard analysis for the site to determine hazards and appropriate active and passive fire protection schemes in conjunction with the requirements of the applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements.
* Generate calculations to size water supply, fire pumps, and underground pipe sizing.
* Develop subcontractor scope of work packages based upon the fire hazard analysis and calculations.
* Award and manage subcontractors based upon the scope of work packages developed.
* Review subcontractor fire suppression and fire alarm system plans and calculations.
* Review fire barrier and penetration seal requirements for specific hazards.
* Perform life safety reviews for buildings and industrial equipment areas.
* Travel is required (approximately 10% of the time) to meet with clients and/or job site personnel on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related engineering field. EIT preferred.
* 5 years minimum relevant experience in Fire protection and life safety design/analysis and construction support for industrial, power or similar type facilities. Individuals with more experience are encouraged to apply and will be evaluated accordingly.
* Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure concepts and requirements are fully conveyed to the various team members and clients in a professional manner.
