Responsibilities include following all local, state and federal electrical codes. Documentation of problems and maintenance of equipment and facility systems are also required. This position will also provide training for equipment operation and safety precautions. Responsibilities also include installing and maintaining new and existing electrical wiring within the facility.
Job Requirements
A high school graduate or equivalent with 4+ years working experience in a manufacturing setting (high-speed manufacturing is preferred).
An Associates/technical degree is preferred or a related vocational/technical certification (state electrical license, journeyman license, etc.).
Knowledge of Allen Bradley/Omron/Direct Logic PLC's are required as well as integrated Window software to analyze AC/DC, single phase and 3 phase generators and AC/DC motors, relays, switches, breaker transformers, and power panels.
Knowledge of single and 3-phase up to 440 volts.
This position also requires the individual to be able to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and parts specifications.
Effective and proven communication skills working in a team environment.

Engineering is responsible for building and maintaining the majority of Metra's fixed assets, such as buildings, stations, bridges, track, electrical, telecommunications and signal systems. Reporting to the A.C. Supervisor, the A.C. Electrician is responsible for performing all aspects of electrical work, including utility pole and/or steel structure aerial lineman work. In addition to installing and repairing HVAC systems, this position is responsible for construction, maintenance, repairs, and wiring of medium voltage electrical switchgear, HVAC systems, electric snowmelter controls and equipment, A.C. overhead/underground distribution systems up to 12KV A.C., and other electrical equipment used in buildings, shops, commuter stations, and yards. Responsible for processing paperwork and replenishing inventory and materials. This position is subject to an emergency after-hours call out and assignment to overtime. Employees may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
This is a Union position. Starting pay rates may vary based on entry rates in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
