a) Shafts, keys and keyways, pins, and shaft couplings. Understand strengths and limitations of each.
b) Chains and sprockets, chain and sprocket operation, strengths and limitations.
c) Gears and gear ratios; be able to calculate speed
d) Plain, ball, roller, thrust, liner and guide bearings. Bearing mounts and mounting techniques, inspection, care and replacement. Analyze bearing failure and determine probable cause(s).
e) Lubrication. Types of lubricants, viscosity classifications, methods of lubrication and the proper storage, handling, and disposal of lubricants.

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Electrician, supporting TOS II, at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA (NFAC). The Electrician will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.
Job Summary
This position requires a high level of technical competence requiring personnel to perform installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of low, medium and high voltage wind tunnel electrical and control systems. Typically receives daily supervision from the Electrical Supervisor, lead persons, and/or manager.
Responsibilities
Job Duties
Ability to read one-line diagrams, electrical distribution drawings, and start/stop circuits
Work closely with lead persons with workflow, tool needs, equipment needs, training requirements, and safety to assure proper work direction and schedule requirements
Requires ability to provide clear, concise, and accurate communications, both verbally and in writing
Provide minor electrical design assistance with engineers and work as a team member for facility modifications and project implementation
Work with engineers and customer personnel to develop testing and electrical maintenance requirements
Provide operations support during facility testing activities
Support proper documentation of maintained inventories, procedures, and adherence to safe work processes of and on electrical systems
Ability to follow safe electrical maintenance procedures is a must
Ability to communicate with other members of the work force the status and control of electrical systems
Requires availability to occasionally work off shifts (swing/grave)
Work in a cross functional team environment
Communicate oral and written instructions effectively, check for understanding
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace
Bring safety concerns to Supervisor
Provide feedback to Lead and Supervisor for crew needs such as tools, training, certification, etc.
Perform detailed job safety analysis including identifying potential hazards and developing safe plans of action to mitigate or eliminate the hazards
Attend requisite electrical craft safety and job qualification training
It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
Perform other duties as required
Basic Qualifications
High School diploma plus trade school or related experience
Four years' experience in electrical field
Ability to use test equipment e.g. (oscilloscopes, strip chart recorders, multimeters and Megger)
Valid California driver's license required to maintain job
Ability to provide clear, concise, and accurate communications, both verbally and in writing
Ability to interact effectively with customers, co-workers, and management
Must adhere to appropriate safety, quality, and environmental practices, as well as business ethics practices
Ability to pass a physical exam
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the local area network
Current U. S. Citizenship required
