How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
Focus on maintaining equipment in working order through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical failures in a fast-paced environment.
Enforce plant safety regulations and encourage employees to become safety conscious.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, including motors, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, switches, and wiring.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults in complex machinery such as corrugators, printing presses, die cutters, and material handling systems.
Troubleshoot and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Install, maintain, and calibrate various sensors, transducers, and measuring instruments.
Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company standards.
Strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other plant safety policies.
Maintain and repair high-voltage equipment and control systems.
Keep accurate records of all maintenance work performed, parts used, and system documentation.
Assist with the installation and commissioning of new production equipment and control systems.
Collaborate with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic technicians to resolve complex operational issues.
Participate in root cause analysis of failures to implement corrective actions and improve machine reliability.
Provide support for mechanical maintenance tasks as needed to ensure production uptime including predictive and preventative maintenance.
What You Need to Succeed:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a manufacturing environment (corrugated, paper, or heavy industry experience is a significant plus).
Proven experience working with 480V three-phase systems and various control voltages.
Proficiency with electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters, megohmmeters).
Expert knowledge of electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and programming PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Massachusetts Electrical license or the equivalent certification
Willingness to work on both mechanical and electrical projects.
Excellent safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle emergency repairs under pressure.
Excellent communication skills
High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree or technical certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced industrial environment, which may include exposure to heat, dust, and chemicals.
This role is primarily the first shift; however, the successful candidate must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and on-call as required to support operations.
The starting rate is $34-40 per hour based on experience, depending on your role, level, and location. Conduct periodic inspections/audits of departmental facilities, laboratories, and utilities. Address issues and notify management as applicable
Prepare and paint walls and woodwork. May include patching walls as necessary
Perform custodial duties as required and maintain good housekeeping and safety in work areas
Complete preventative maintenance and repairs per work order requirements, and update work order status in real time through CMMS systems
Submit P-card receipts and ensure that appropriate documentation is completed and submitted in a timely manner
Ensure disposal areas are kept clean and in a safe condition
Study and become familiar with the various items of equipment, and the methods required to use them properly, that are required in everyday activities
Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary. Must be able to recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond to equipment problems. Troubleshoot and diagnose problem and develop corrective action. Perform repairs within jurisdiction and inform supervisor of need for larger repairs.

Cover FLR for breakdowns.

Maintain necessary records. Report improper operation of faulty equipment and unusual conditions to supervisor. Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe and orderly working condition. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Maintain quality standards.

The Electrician I installs, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems, apparatuses, and electrical control components of stationary engines and mechanical device such as gas turbine engines, steam turbines, diesel engines, generators, heat recovery steam generators, gas compressors, air compressors, motors, pumps, chillers, uninterruptible power supply systems and other related device by performing the following duties..
**How You Will Make a Difference**
+ Diagnose cause of electrical malfunction or failure of operational device such as transformers, motors, relays, switches, control and monitoring devices and takes corrective measures in collaboration with Maintenance Manager / Supervisor.
+ Install wire and conduit for newly installed machines and device.
+ Terminate wiring to machines and devices, connects cables and wires between machines and device.
+ Replace faulty wiring and electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices.
+ Replace electric motor bearings.
+ Align, adjust, and calibrate device according to specifications.
+ Maintain records of repairs, calibrations, and tests.
+ Read dials or digital displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacity.
+ Read meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify proper operation.
+ Record maintenance actions taken on work order forms.
+ Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
+ Advise maintenance manager / supervisor on inventory of repair parts and supplies and ordering material as needed
+ Work with operational staff to test device performance.
+ Read and understand technical manuals and system piping and instrumentation diagrams.
+ Perform preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with technical manual procedures.
+ Prepare legible and understandable work orders for required preventative and corrective maintenance.
+ Read, understand, and comply with all plant safety and regulatory procedures.
+ Comply with all the EHS policies and procedures as adopted and implemented at plant site.
+ Understand OH&S risks / hazards and environmental / legislative aspect / impacts related to work activities.
+ May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization's core values
+ Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments.
**Special Role Requirements:**
+ Diploma or Associate Engineering Degree in Electrical Technology and/or 3 years of experience in Combined Cycle Power Plants / Petro-Chemical industries
+ Willing to work 12 hours on Day or Night Shift.
+ 100% travel is required

Essential Functions:
* Perform machine set up and repair assembly and packaging equipment.
* Perform preventative maintenance routines on all production equipment.
* Install, debug and stabilize plant equipment as required.

Qualifications:

* 1-5 years manufacturing experience preferred.
* Through knowledge of Maintenance jargon, Maintenance Best Practices Knowledge; OSHA, safety, etc.
* Proven ability to work in a team environment
* Working knowledge of GMP, OSHA and Production needs.
Work Environment: The job is performed in production areas where the person will be exposed to strong aromas, airborne dust particles emanating from ingredients being used, and will be in the presence of or otherwise operating machinery.
