Summary
As an Apprentice, you will perform construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures in accordance with Oncor's construction standards manuals. All tasks are carried out under the direction of others and with the approval of the supervising authority. Work involves conductors and equipment energized at distribution voltages, utilizing approved protective equipment and tools.
This on-site position will have an assigned service territory within our Oncor Electric Delivery Company market and be based out of our Midland Service Center.
Attributes and Responsibilities
Available to be on-call in the scheduled rotation, available for overtime work, and 24-hour call-out is required.
Willing to travel outside your assigned district when needed is required.
Able to work off wood poles, insulated platforms, and bucket trucks using approved safety practices and rules is required.
Able to lift 75 pounds above his/her head on a regular basis is required.
Successful candidate will be expected to live within 60 minutes of the service center with 30 minutes or less preferred.
Expected to comply with the Code of Conduct at all times and shall participate in the local safety programs.

Daily Activities
* Assist the electrician in the various aspects of electrical maintenance, repair and construction.
* Prepare and assemble various apparatus required for particular work being performed.
* Keep work areas clean and organized. Pickup scrap wire, boxes, and other discarded materials.
* Assist with cleaning protective equipment (hot sticks and rubber goods).
* Use of various hand and power tools.
* Assist with loading of various materials onto trucks and/or trailers.
* Must be knowledgeable with the materials needed and process to strip and terminate cables.
* Ability to perform duties involving prolonged standing, sitting, crouching and/or stooping. Ability to push, pull, and position tools, equipment, and structural material weighing in excess of 100 pounds.
* Ability to accurately read and record meter data.
* Comply to all company policies and procedures
* Any other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
* Must have 2 years of electrical experience
* Must have valid drivers license
* Must be able to pass drug test
* Open availability and must be willing to travel as work is subject to stand-by, pre-arranged and/or call-out duty
* High School Diploma/GED

Primary Purpose: The goal of the Electrician Apprentice is to perform his assigned duties with the supervision of his foreman or lead electrician including the following: work with crews in the installation, inspection and repair of district electrical equipment, electrical systems and circuits, electrical fixtures such as switches and circuitry boxes according to the National Electrical Code. Keep accurate records for work order maintenance, District purchasing and warehouse procedures and respond to emergency electrical problems.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
· Be able to obtain an apprentice electrician license
· Have a valid Texas driver's license
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
· Learn to estimate materials, order and obtain material as required, and inform supervisor of needs and requirements to complete each job.
· Learn to lay out new or modified installations to conform to National Electrical Code. Read blueprints and diagrams for correct wiring of electrical installations.
· Learn to install all electrical conduits, pull boxes, and necessary systems using good workmanship and proper tools and equipment.
· Learn all functions in the electrical craft using proper procedures and safety equipment.
· Learn to coordinate materials and supplies for preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and routine work order maintenance.
· Learn to troubleshoot, test, and repair all electrical equipment and components to ensure compatibility and safety to each installation.
· Learn to obtain and set up scaffolds, ladders, and bucket truck extension to perform electrical work in multi-story requirements. Perform electrical work in, about, and under each campus as necessary.
· Maintain accountability of tools, equipment, and supplies as assigned.
· Learn to identify and resolve various repair problems to ensure proper job completion.
· Maintain accurate records for proper completion of work orders (such as labor and material costs).
· Maintain and demonstrate an attitude of quality service, and teamwork, and good public relations and communications with co-workers, supervisors, and district employees at the various facility sites.
· Functions within the polices and administrative procedures of the Ector County Independent School District.
· Be available for emergency call outs on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
· Learn to read and interpret technical materials and specifications, including but not limited to construction documents, engineering reports and submittal data
· Ability to communicate with a varied work force both professional and skilled labor
· Ability to maintain good public relations and communications with co- workers, supervisors, and district officials as part of a team.
· Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned
