Lake Union Drydock is seeking a reliable and experienced individual to join their team as a Purchasing Assistant. The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for ensuring adherence to LUDD's procurement policies and procedures, providing quality customer service, and efficiently distributing supplies at the service counter. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures adherence to Lake Union Drydock Company's procurement policies and procedures
Provides quality customer service while quickly and efficiently distributing supplies at the service counter
Accurately charges out materials to related jobs
Manages appropriate levels of stock by placing orders with vendors
Ensures that the material received matches the shipping documents and works with vendors to remedy any discrepancies
Responsible for scanning items, printing barcode labels, and entering new items into the inventory management system
Works with the accounting group to ensure accurate and timely cycle counts of inventory
Maintains an organized and clean work environment and storeroom
Works with others in the department to ensure cross-training in all areas
Assists the Purchasing Manager and stands in during absences
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to reliably be on site by 6am Monday through Friday and cover occasional weekend overtime shifts
Minimum two (2) years related work experience, preferably in ship repair or a heavy industry warehouse
Experience using Microsoft Office
Ability to provide efficient and courteous customer service
Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy while moving between tasks
Experience with all phases of procurement cycle and inventory management is a plus.
Lake Union Drydock offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, 11 paid holidays, 12 days sick leave; vacation pay; 401k and profit-sharing plan.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly pay range of $26.50. It is an on-site position in downtown Seattle working between the hours of 6am - 2:30pm daily.

Lake Union Drydock (LUDD) is seeking an experienced and skilled machinist to lead and supervise the shipyard machine shop. The LUDD machine shop foreman is responsible for supervising machinist and mechanic work in the shipyard. This includes oversight for all equipment and labor assignments, planning all aspects needed for labor including materials, tools, equipment, executing change order procedures, and conducting job hazard analysis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Shows concern for the customers' needs
o Readily available to provide guidance to supervisors and employees on weekends and outside of regular working hours
o Available onsite when necessary
o Works closely with Production Mangers and Superintendents on all staffing and scheduling needs
o Works directly with the Ship Superintendents and other Production Managers for support of various elements in production and facilities maintenance endeavors
o Handles planning including specifying staffing needs, scheduling, tooling, materials, equipment, and subcontracts
o Provides supervision to assigned employees, which may also include lower-level supervisors
o Supervision includes assignment to tasks, assuring completion of tasks within deadlines, resolving conflicts, applying needed disciplinary action with shop steward, and designated management representatives
o Writes/receives verbal and written turnovers as needed to facilitate smooth and effective shift changes
o Applies good understanding of the Union contract
o Prepares condition found reports (CFR), change orders, and reviews job hazard analyses (JHA) for the assigned work activities by hand or using computer software applications such as Word, Excel, or email
o Mentors others in how to prepare CFR, JHA, and change orders
o Orders materials for production as needed to complete the project and to assure timely receipt
o Responsible for timely and accurate completion of daily employee timecard submissions
o Maintain appropriate records of vessel history, measurements, circumstances, tooling, drawings, subcontractors, and other various details related to effective and efficient production
o Update job costs, including tracking costs for materials, subcontractors, and internal charges
o Maintain vendor insurance certificates and W-9 forms
o Reconcile and scan back-up documentation for accounts payable items
o Assist with credit card reconciliations and other financial data entry projects
o Manage the archiving of account payable records and other important documents
o Coordination of weekly services and reconciliation of the monthly service invoices (refuse disposal, shredder services, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS
• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a machinist in a marine or industrial environment
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a machinist supervisor
• Leadmen or foreman level experience as a marine machinist, with recent experience in a shipyard environment is preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
• Knowledge of marine-related equipment, ship repair, and construction techniques
• Knowledge of ship repair sequencing, activities, & shipyard safety practices
• Ability to apply basic math to evaluation and repair of equipment being serviced by the machine shop
• Ability to read, understand, and apply information from ship repair specifications, blueprints, technical procedures, and regulations
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees
• Ability to direct, coach, and motivate the work of others
• Ability to resolve conflicts & coordinate multiple details related to various projects simultaneously
• Ability to perform effective written communication, including but not limited to Condition Found Reports, shift turnovers, and detailed descriptions of machine shop production activities
• Ability to operate a computer as a tool to perform production-related research and communicate with other production personnel
