We're looking for a Construction Administration / Controls team member who will be located in our West Geography office locations. The role will form an integral part of our regional construction administration team and will help to deliver some of the most significant projects in the area. The successful candidate will support: quality in our designs, a high level of multi-disciplinary coordination; and key stakeholder awareness. This role will be a hybrid role where it will support both our construction administration and our controls team. There is an overlap between Building Construction and Controls and this will give the successful candidate exposure to cutting edge systems within some of the most exciting projects within our region. The Opportunity * Support our Construction Administration and Controls teams through project work - including new / existing construction and pre-design support. Projects will typically reside in the science, healthcare, higher education, transportation and commercial sectors. A general knowledge of all project types will be a strong attribute. * Coordinate and implement of project specific design activities including Process and Instrumentation and Control diagram development. Support our controls team to prepare building control diagrams for operation of HVAC, Lighting and Plumbing systems. * Participate in meeting and work with engineering team to maintain and develop client and stake holder relationships. Maintain a focus on building and maintaining quality relationships, both with our internal team and external counterparts. * Support the CA process from a multi-disciplinary standpoint. Facilitate timely responses to Contractor Request for Information (RFI's), submittals and inspection reports and ensure that responses are coordinated across trade partners.. * Participate in Construction site 'all-hands' or 'big room' meetings. Be accountable to report to the large team and convey information on the team's behalf, when necessary. * Provide measurement and verification services within existing building projects and support our commissioning team as necessary. * Support advance controls for High-performance and LEED Certified green buildings. * Capture lessons learned on projects and support in-house design reviews based on findings. Make recommendations for design improvements. Engage with our BIM process and pro-actively identify opportunities for coordination and constructability in order to support a high quality output. * Present lessons learned to the broader team 'non-field based' engineering team.. * Support the development regional standards for construction administration best practices, such as: digital platforms, test sheets and forms, specifications and site practices, and field reports. * Know the latest in relevant industry developments and technology advancements Is this role right for you? * Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar is preferred * Experience or understanding of commissioning / retro- commissioning projects * Experience developing and delivering a business strategy and work winning efforts * Engineer in Training (EIT), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent qualifications. * LEED AP (desired) * Project sector experience in higher education, science, industry, healthcare, government, or transportation. * Participation in American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning engineers (ASHRAE) or equivalent organizations. * Must be eligible to work in the US without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future to be considered for this role. Position Responsibilities Leads definition, planning and documentation of digital work-flow strategies, objectives and coordination of data management on Projects through close collaboration with Project Digital Coordinators as well as fellow leaders in Computational Design, High Performance Design, Visualization, etc. Identifies, categorizes and organizes strategies or issues specific to Project scale from office-wide and firm-wide scope through coordination with BIM Leads/Managers from other offices. Initiates the BIM model(s) and drawings in collaboration with Project Digital Coordinators, according to appropriate standards. Advises and supports project teams in the coordination of Project BIM models, process management and objectives with other disciplines and consultants. Advises Project Digital Coordinators in the preparation and maintenance of the Project LOD Matrices and BIM Management Plans in close collaboration with Project Manager and Project Team leaders. Advises and supports Project Digital Coordinators and Team members as well as Junior and Intermediate BIM technologists in developing BIM model(s), drawings and other project deliverables. Effectively communicates and promotes the work of the firm. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a professional degree in Architecture or a related field. Minimum 8 years of focused professional experience in applying and developing digital tools and processes to AEC project work, including experience in Revit to document a variety of large-scale building projects. Demonstrates attention to detail and consistency in model-building, data-organization, and drawing set-up with a graphical style that is clear, consistent and artful. Demonstrated ability to strategize, create and coordinate complex BIM/Revit models and assemble drawing deliverable packages at all levels of detail and project stages. Exhibits initiative, process innovation, problem solving, and decision quality with a high attention to precision and accuracy at all levels. Strong supervisory, leadership and communication skills. Superior organizational skills and ability to distribute tasks to others, with proven experience in project planning and tracking. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. General knowledge of architectural practice including site-planning, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical engineering, and construction. Demonstrated knowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials, construction techniques, building systems selection, related engineering principles and building codes. Wide knowledge of concepts, workflows and tools used in other Digital Design fields such as Computational Design, Performance Analysis/Simulation, Visualization, Manufacturing, Robotics. General understanding of sustainable strategies and principles including familiarity with LEED or other green building rating systems. Demonstrated expertise in digital tools such as Revit, ACC / BIM360, Dynamo, Navisworks, Revizto, AutoCAD, energy modeling, LCA tools and appropriate scripting languages. Expert understanding and knowledge of scripting, programming, Grasshopper, Rhino and their relationship to BIM workflow. Superior ability to prepare and present technical concepts and information clearly and succinctly. Demonstrated experience in data visualization and ability to create engaging visual communication. Supports the project lead to document project communications, file and organize project documents and disseminate project information with the project team. Assists in project drive and group set-up and protocols. Supports scheduling of client and consultant meetings as needed. Record minutes of these meetings and document action items. Works with internal SOM staff to implement, update and manage in Vision software, project staffing and resource planning. In conjunction with Structural Leadership, coordinates with Project Accountant in preparation appropriate billings and pursue payment compliance. Maintains and updates project data (in various mediums including hard copy project files, network drives etc.) in a timely manner to ensure accurate reporting of earnings and accurate billings. Minimum Qualifications Professional degree in Architecture or Civil/Structural Engineering. Minimum 2 years relevant experience or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A highly professional, creative and committed individual with proven collaboration, technical and organizational skills. A proven work ethic and the ability to anticipate project, client and team needs, service oriented, initiate decisions and coordinate the activities of others. Interest in, and ability to, handle financial management issues as it relates to project team members, consultant team members and project performance. Strong command of Google Workspace.
