We are currently seeking to hire a Production Assembly Associate at our location in Michigan City, Indiana.
Position Summary
Responsible for assembling purchased parts and the various pieces that go together to form a finished product. The assembly associate will use various hand tools and power tools, in conjunction with their hands, to complete the job.
Tools: Hand tools; screwdrivers, wrenches / sockets, wire strippers / crimpers, tape measure.
Power Tools; drills, grinders, belt sander, band saw, and power riveter
Responsibilities
· Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint/wiring specifications, and bills of material; gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
· Install parts and subassemblies by assembly drawings/on job training.
· Assemble components by examining connections for correct and proper fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
· Resolve assembly problems: notify line supervisor to obtain additional resources/direction.
· May train co-workers in production assembly.
· May be required to complete production documentation.
· Required to maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Vanair procedures, rules, and regulations.

Your Experience and Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
Basic computer skills.
Understanding of how to use hand tools (screw drivers, wrenches, wire strippers, crimpers, etc.), power tools (i.e. heat gun, cordless drill, cordless screwdrivers, amp meters, etc.), and pneumatic tools (i.e. stapler, nail gun, impact gun, rivet gun, etc.) as well as the ability to read blueprints and a tape measure.
Ability to read, write and use basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow precise instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers and across departments.

The Kit Assembly Associate - Day-to-Day:
You will need to understand and interpret instructions on production orders which describe the components including chemicals, supplies, and apparatus needed to assemble subcomponents or kits.
You will conduct quality and quantity control checks to ensure complete and total accuracy of multiple components including chemicals being packaged. Inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of packaging process for correctness.
Use machinery for assembly of some items (i.e. wire machine, dialysis tubing counter, paper cutter, etc). Safely and efficiently use necessary equipment, to accommodate the work and return to appropriate storage locations once job completed.
Stack finished products onto skids either individually or boxed. Move products throughout warehouse through the use of pallet jacks, cart, or hand truck.
Properly record information such as production process time and date packaged on work order via computer tracking system.
You will use computer and/or scanning gun to create labels for finished products. Mark items with the appropriate Flinn Item # when necessary.
