The Coordinator will serve under the general direction and supervision of the Athletic Director and will oversee scheduling of all athletic facilities and the preparation of facilities for contests and other events; create a safe environment through the development of maintenance, inspection, and replacement schedules for all large equipment. Serves as a positive role model and help teach children the values of fair play, good sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and commitment. Develop, monitor, supervise, and motivate student-athletes to play a sport, both beginners and advanced runners. Commit to building relationships with and have a willingness to coach both young women and young men academically and athletically. instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. Guild student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship. Performance Responsibilities: Work cooperatively, and in a timely matter, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department in regard to information that might be required. Meet all of the requirements set forth by the District State Board of Education and The Ohio Department of Education relative to Coaches Tool Chest Trainings/Certificate and Pupil Activity Permit. Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Check student-athletes academic eligibility. Model the behavior expected of student-athletes including timeliness to practices, being positive and enthusiastic, being respect, and practice constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program. Set a positive example at all times through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language and conduct. Be appropriately dressed at all times. Maintain a suitable sideline conduct at all times including the use of appropriate language. Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport with use of good judgment in decision-making. Assist with the scheduling of pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport. Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance. Participate in School Events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.). Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations. Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as look at ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques. Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching. Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponent(s). Provide motivation for team to meet/exceed their goals and stress the value of acceptable personal behavior by each student-athlete. Actively promote good sportsmanship at all times. Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in job description. Maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies. Trainings/Certifications: Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred. Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college. State of Ohio Teaching License (preferred, not required). 3. Coaching and administrative abilities. 4. Experience in related field 5. Required to maintain a valid Pupil Activity Permit Validation and all items required to obtain PAP via the Ohio Department of Education. Copies of all certifications must be on file prior to coaching. REPORTS TO: Head Coach, Athletic Director, Principal and/or Designee SALARY: NONE POSITION GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self discipline, self confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. Attends meetings necessary to the welfare of the Athletic Department. 1.06 Develops sound public relations. Co-operates with newspapers, radio, T.V., Booster Club, and interested spectators. Upholds the integrity of the athletic program by refraining from making negative remarks. 1.07 Maintains suitable sideline conduct at games. Expects sportsmanlike behavior to be displayed by assistant coaches and athletes toward all individuals involved with the contest (officials, workers, fans, etc.). 1.08 Serves as a role model to players, coaches and spectators in demonstrating good sportsmanship and ethical behavior at all times. 1.09 Demonstrates respect for opponents before, during and after the contest. Displays modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat. 1.10 Works cooperatively with junior high coaches in developing a coordinated program. 1.11 Works cooperatively with Head Coach and Athletic Director and completes duties assigned to them 1.12 Attends all meetings called by the Athletic Director. 2. COACHING PERFORMANCE 2.01 Develops respect by example in appearance, manners, behavior, language, and sportsmanlike conduct during a contest. 2.02 Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport. 2.03 Has individual and team discipline and control. 2.04 Is fair, understanding, tolerant, sympathetic and patient with team members. 2.05 Educates players on rules and regulations of the game. Expects players to follow them and to accept the decisions about the game made my officials. 2.06 Teaches sportsmanship and rewards players who are good sports. 2.07 Teaching ability is innovative using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to sound, already proven methods of coaching. 2.08 Is prompt in meeting team for practices and games. 2.09 Shows an interest in athletes in off-season activities and classroom efforts. 2.10 Delegates authority with responsibility while remaining accountable for such delegations. 2.11 Team performance consistent with quality of athletes available. 2.12 Supervision of players in the locker room, practice, field, bus and other areas. 3.
