Job Description:
Operate various types of track excavators to perform various types of work such as but not limited to loading borrow material, excavating, ditching and slope work. Will need MSHA Training to work in sand pits or mine sites.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Operating an excavator to perform rough grade, slope work, borrow and excavating operations on various projects.
Must be able to perform walk around inspections of equipment before operation and at the end of shift.
Being versatile in other types of heavy equipment is a plus.
Job entails being very productive in all aspects of Private and NCDOT work.

Job Description:
Perform general, as well as skilled duties to prepare the grade and to install storm drain, concrete, metal and other types of pipes to the proposed elevation, slope and percent of grade. Will perform other related duties such as pouring footers and installing precast and mason drainage structures.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs various skilled tasks which are associated with grading and pipe installation operations. This includes but not limited shoveling or leveling stone or dirt.
Mason and concrete work.
Will be working in trenches and excavations, so experience is essential.

May operate some types of equipment such as front loader or small compactors.
Minimum Qualifications & Training:
2 years' experience in installing storm drainage and other pipe installation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Operate jackhammers, drills and other power tools as required.

Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.

Position has direct responsibility for contract administration, change orders, claims and completion of assigned projects on time within specifications and budget. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1) Assist Vice Presidents and Division Managers in estimating, contract development and administration.
2) Assist Division Manager and Superintendent in progress schedules and scheduling support crews and subcontractors.
3) Meet with engineers, architects and clients to coordinate and price required design changes and to negotiate change orders as necessary.
4) Review and evaluate plans and specifications, cost, schedules, job assignments, equipment utilization and needs, personnel needs, and selection and performance of subcontractors.
5) Review and execute plan revisions, work orders and claims as needed.
6) Review accounts receivable and accounts payable to insure proper billing of estimates, cost and payment of completed work.

Job Description:
Manage the effective daily operation of a single project or multiple projects by providing technical and informational support to the project team. Take action as needed to ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision and values of Barnhill Contracting Company.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible to effectively manage project schedules, BIM coordination, material procurement, subcontractors, resources and project documentation through the use of Barnhill and/or Designer/Owner Project Management Software. Ready Mix Concrete Truck Driver
1.) Climb on, over and around a company vehicle in order to perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections as well as to secure loads.
2.) Climb up and down concrete mixer trucks using ladder, doing repetitive motion to inspect concrete mix consistencies and perform Quality Control checks.
3.) Lift truck hoods, product or equipment and tools necessary to perform inspection, repair, loading and unloading of trucks.
4.) Support and assist shop personnel with any required repairs.
5.) Wash trucks, clean truck cabs, climb up and down truck washing facilities.
6.) Operate the vehicle in a safe, lawful and courteous manner at all times.

Co-Op Students work in the Civil Infrastructure Unit, which includes water/wastewater treatment plants, tanks, and pump stations, among other things.
Position Description:
Co-op Students will have an exciting opportunity to work both in the field and in the office in their first term hybrid rotation. Students will be on a jobsite in an office trailer, performing a variety of duties including: Material buy-out, Production Drawing creation, Submittal preparation, cost estimating, safety leadership, site layout, and more! Students will have both a Project Engineer/Project Manager and a Superintendent as their supervisor, so that they can learn the different responsibilities of each position. For subsequent co- ops, students can take what they've learned from their first experience and apply it into a field or office term based off of their likes and dislikes. Assessable, connect, and construct water and sewer pipeline systems to the correct depth and grade. TYPICAL DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Direct operator in trench excavation to grade bottom. * Level trench bottom and spreads stabilization stone with shovel.
* Guide suspended pipe into trenches, unhooks cables or strap slings, and digs under pipe to allow removal of sling.
* Arrange pump hoses to remove water.
* Partially backfill by shoveling or dumping direct and stone beside the newly laid pipe joint and tamps or compacts backfill as required.
* Install sheeting and shoring as required.
* Install flanged and JM pipe.
* Help build and repair concrete inverts in manholes.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus three (3) to six (6) months related experience or training
* Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondences, memos, blueprints, and maps
* Ability to write simple correspondences
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units of weight, volume, and distance

This structured 12-week program provides comprehensive exposure to the core functions of civil construction, including roadbuilding, asphalt and grading operations, plant logistics, and project management. Interns will rotate through various roles and departments, gaining hands-on experience and professional development under the guidance of experienced mentors.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Civil Operations Intern will participate in a structured 12-week rotational program designed to provide exposure to key functions within Barnhill's Civil Operations division. Under the guidance of an assigned mentor, the intern will engage in the following responsibilities:
Orientation and Onboarding
Complete required documentation and technology setup
Participate in organizational overview and safety training
