What we will ask of you:
Create, prepare, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the Restaurant's standard drink recipes while tending to bar patrons
Receive orders and serve food to guests dining at the bar
Maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner and assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies in addition to required side work
Always remain educated on our menu offerings and respond promptly to any requests or questions about our menus, dietary restrictions and other restaurant functions and services
Prepare and present final bill, process payment, and report all gratuities received to comply with the IRS standards of reporting income
Requirements
Requirements for Success:
Be 21 years of age or older with 1-2 years of prior bartending experience
Have a positive energy, be ready to assist fellow support staff and work as a team player
Ability to communicate effectively with managers, employees, and all guests
A flexible schedule to work days, nights, weekends and holidays

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Complete and stay current on all EMBASSY SUITES mandated training and certifications including CARE within required time frame; know individual responsibilities under ABC laws
Follow hotel procedures for documenting any alcohol related incidents
Ensure that bar, stations, utensils, equipment, handwash stations, perishable foods & beverages, soft drink dispensers, and beer taps are maintained in sanitary conditions
Set up bar and reception station in accordance with hotel and EMBASSY SUITES brand standards
Demonstrate hospitality and professionalism at all times
Understand the handling of cash and charge receipts, settling each shift and maintaining accountability for revenues, verification of charges, proper authorizations
Know the current beverage menus, portions, recipes, appropriate glassware and garnishes for all regularly served items
Order, pick up and serve foods as ordered from current menu; know basic preparation and ingredients of menu items, ordering and pick up procedures and times, as well as appropriate utensils and condiments
Consistent attention to guests, be visible, be observant, respond promptly to needs.
Store all equipment, food and beverages appropriately
Maintain uniform in an exemplary fashion. Report to work in complete uniform including nametag, maintain uniform in clean, crisp condition. For safety purposes non-slip shoes are required.
Available to work various shifts as determined by banquet events, seasonality, operating hours; is consistently punctual
Hotel goal is to maintain all items and areas in “like new” condition - inform supervisor of any safety concern or need for repair.
Complete all assigned pre- and post-shift tasks.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
A bartender has personal as well as company responsibility in insuring the safe and lawful dispensing of alcohol beverages - it is critical to never lose sight of this fact.
Our hotel's primary goal is to provide hospitality and exceed guest expectations for levels of service, quality, consistency and attention to detail - all team members are evaluated against this standard. Be aware of, act on and/or report any issue that affects safety of guest or team member.
A hotel operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. During the course of your scheduled shift, you may be asked to assist in areas of the hotel outside of your typical work areas.
Knows why competitors are successful in our market and directly markets/sells against him or her. Understand the parameters within which to make rate decisions based on occupancy levels, and when to consult with senior team member.
Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is desired, but not essential.
Previous related experience preferred - food & beverage service, bartending, hospitality.
Comfort in computerized environments is essential

Ability to read & write in English, perform mathematical calculations such as adding, percentages.
Ability to effectively communicate with customers, utilizing tact and diplomacy as necessary.

Position Summary
The Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They must be personable, professional and able to work in an ever changing fast-paced environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need.
This role will pay an hourly rate between $10 to $14 plus tips

Responsibilities
Must demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellent in the areas of guest service, interaction with co-workers and uniform standards.
Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described.
Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks including state/federal regulations pertaining to the distribution of alcohol.
Responsible to learn or have knowledge of various beer, wine varieties & spirits available, and be able to learn to suggestively upsell products to guests.
Must pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size.
Must check guest's ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages.
Must communicate a cut-off to a guest as required.
Listening and responding to any customer requests or concerns.
Bartenders are expected to de-escalate intoxicated guest situations. If a guest becomes confrontational, belligerent, or uses extreme profanity, the bartender may contact management or security as required.
Contact a management member if he/she is unable to resolve or make a decision beyond the scope of standard decision-making.
Request additional product or restock product as required
Ability to handle cash accurately is required. Employee is responsible for issued bank at his/her bar.
Maintains clean and sanitary work station at all times. Ensures bar equipment is clean & well maintained.
Other duties as assigned such as set-up and breakdown of bar equipment as required and assisting with organization of the cooler
Qualifications
Six months or more experience bartending.
Accurate cash handling skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and long hours.
Bartending school preferred

Essential Job Functions

Certifications as required by Federal, State, or Local agencies

Be aware of all city, state and federal regulations concerning health codes and rules that specifically pertain to a place where food and beverage is served. Verify age prior to serving alcoholic beverages to any guests. Monitor guest intoxication to determine if a guest needs to be cut off.
Prepare all beverages. Serve all beverage and food orders. Deliver any room service orders to the guest room.
Secure payment for all orders. Maintain accuracy in handling cash. Responsible for the cash drawer and balancing shift report. Know how to handle money and make change correctly. Get guest room numbers to prevent non-payment.
Keep all beverages and supplies stocked and fresh. Take inventory of beverage supplies. Inform management of your supply needs.
Help other employees when needed. Refer guest requests or concerns to the appropriate department. Report pertinent information to the next shift orally and in log books.
Each employee is part of the hotel security team and is responsible for reporting any potential hazards to the management and should investigate any alleged injuries which occur on the premises in the absence of the manager. An Incident Report (for guests) or an Accident report (for employees) should be completed.
Know where gas, electric, water cut off, and breakers are located. Know location of emergency lights.
Bartender must be able to lift 30 pounds, bend, stoop, and go up and down stairs. Employee is required to seek assistance if unable to lift or move an item over 30 pounds.
