GENERAL NATURE OF WORK: This position performs semi-skilled work in the Parks, Recreation, and Culture division. An employee in this class is responsible for performing various tasks associated with the maintenance of streets, traffic, parks, cemeteries, buildings, and vehicles in the City. Duties are performed under the direction of the appropriate Section Leader and/or designee. EQUIPMENT & JOB LOCATION: This position requires thorough knowledge of equipment operation, including pickup trucks, dump trucks, snowplows, front-end loaders, backhoes, street sweepers, mowers, small power tools, crack sealers, curb machines, jack hammers, utility vehicles, tractors, bobcats, forklifts, sign trucks, signal trucks, bucket trucks, paint machines, hand stripers, safety equipment, and a variety of hand and garden tools. The primary work site is the Municipal Maintenance Facility, City-owned facilities and grounds, and any roadways within the City limits of Beavercreek. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in all positions in this class. Operates a variety of vehicles, machines, and equipment appropriate to job-related tasks. Performs routine maintenance and repairs related to streets, traffic, parks, cemeteries, and facilities. Performs various street maintenance tasks, including street maintenance, drainage, concrete work, snow plowing, utility locating, traffic signal system maintenance, street lighting system maintenance, traffic sign maintenance, and roadway marking and paint maintenance. Performs various grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, pruning, aerating, fertilizing, pest control, leaf removal, tree removal and cleanup, and maintaining athletic fields and landscape beds. Sets up work zones and road closures. Removes trash from roadways and other City-owned properties. Assembles, installs, and maintains playground equipment. Cleans and maintains City facilities and empties trash receptacles. Maintains fencing and roofs as necessary. Orders materials and maintains related records. Keeps proper records and work orders for all job-related assignments. Sets up and tears down items needed for special events and community festivals. Repairs and maintains all necessary tools and equipment. Directs the activities of part-time, seasonal, and volunteer personnel. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned, including work in other City divisions as necessary. ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Assists in storm clean up. Responds to comments and complaints in a professional manner. DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: General knowledge of the operations and maintenance of job-related vehicles, machinery, tools, and equipment. General knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties. Ability to drive a truck, with or without a trailer. Ability to understand and communicate instructions, both oral and written. Ability to read and understand basic written instructions, material and equipment labels, and hazard and warning notices. Ability to read and interpret maps. Ability to work in confined spaces. Ability to establish a safe work zone. Knowledge of basic math. Ability to complete basic reports and checklists. Ability to work under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Section Leader, Operator III, and Operator II. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with City officials, other City employees, and the general public. DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by some experience in routine maintenance, or any combination of training and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities. Ability to meet Operator I core training requirements in relevant division within specified timeline per the City of Beavercreek Training and Reclassification Policy and Training Matrix. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must maintain a valid Ohio Driver License. Must maintain a valid Ohio Class ‘A' Commercial Driver License with airbrake and tanker endorsements. This license must be obtained within three (3) months of hire date. Ability to work other than normal working hours and to work various shifts as necessary. Must be in good physical condition, i.e., able to pass all required physical exams and drug testing as required by the State of Ohio and/or City of Beavercreek. Ability to grasp, lift, and maneuver hand tools, power tools, equipment, and materials of various weights and sizes, in a manner which is safe and effective in the performance of work. Ability to perform physical functions, including lifting objects, equipment, furniture, supplies, and materials (weighing up to 50 pounds). Ability to climb, bend, balance, and traverse rough ground, including under varied weather conditions. Ability to perform heavy manual labor for an extended period of time in all conditions. A Brief Overview The Site Operations Staff will assist with the site build including signage install, fencing, site work, etc. Additionally, this position will assist with keeping the grounds safe and clean throughout the festival and fix any issues that may arise. What you will do Assist with the site build and load out, breakdown and return of assets including signage install, fencing, supply distribution, site work, flooring, tents, electric, power, etc. Assist with keeping grounds safe and clean throughout the festival by doing detailed site walks and fixing any issues that arise regarding construction, power, lighting, equipment, etc. Monitor, track, and fill vehicles, carts, machinery with fuel as needed. May be stationed at designated areas throughout site as needed. Assist with power needs, collection of debris including sticks, limbs trees, etc, and coordination and distribution of water throughout the site. May liaison with appropriate department or vendor to accomplish installations or retrieve assets and equipment to accomplish tasks. May assist with ticket and token collection of recreational areas. Specific Duties: * Handle hazardous waste in accordance with the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and company policy. * Generate and analyze system reports. * Identify molds, dip and sand, place molds in dehumidification room recording part number, time and quantity in log. * Wash wax clusters and place on conveyor lines after inspection. * Perform ceramic slurry testing as required. * Mix ceramic slurries from supplied formula, clean sand beds and slurry tanks, maintain adequate supply levels. * Meet the specific requirements of the efficiency standards.
