Job Description
North Yarmouth Academy seeks a custodial employee with the desire to work to protect the health and safety of our students, staff, and NYA community by cleaning, preparing, and performing light maintenance duties on our campus. Prior custodial and/or industrial cleaning experience a plus. Normal
hours are from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Reliability and flexibility to accept changing work priorities is required. Supervisory experience a plus and may lead to a supervisory position
for the night cleaning crew.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Clean and sanitize high touch areas such as door handles, light switches, toilets, railings, and sinks
• Clean hallways, classrooms, offices, gym, walls, restrooms, and other areas
• Collect and empty trash receptacles and pick up litter in and around buildings
• Take initiative to report cleaning or cosmetic issues for prioritization and repair
• Complete manual tasks that require low to moderate physical strength
• Must have the physical capacity to use tools, carry equipment and supplies, and climb ladders up to 8 feet
• Move furniture and equipment when necessary
• Assist with setup for activities and programs and perform light maintenance activities such as
painting, detail cleaning, and floor maintenance
• Before the end of the shift, sweep the area of responsibility to make sure that no one is in the building and that all exits are locked and secure.
• Performs other related duties as directed by the manager
