Job Summary: The Specialty Pharmacy & Infusion Technician is primarily the first contact for both referral sources and patients with our pharmacy. As such, the technician should strive to build relationships with these customers to increase satisfaction, compliance, and referrals. A Vital Care Specialty Pharmacy & Infusion Technician's main responsibility is to assist the pharmacists with filling, mixing and assisting customers. He/she will implement and or maintain processes which will meet both personal and business goals of servicing our current patients while attempting to expand our customer base. Works within the support teams for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with company vision and values. Duties/Responsibilities: Primarily responsible for assisting Vital Care Rx processes through to completion. Answer phone & assist customers. Intake/Process referrals through to completion. Work fax cue. Send fax confirmation. Identify & complete necessary PA's. Contact patient(s) to make arrangements of financial responsibility & set up delivery. Assist with enrollment of PAP if necessary. Follow-up with insurance status if needed. Notify referral source of status & start of care. Ensure proper reimbursement by third party. Obtain copay collection prior to shipment. Process labels, blister pack (if necessary) & pack Rx's for shipment daily. Document all correspondence in CareTend Progress Notes. Track refills & schedule accordingly with patients to assure timely delivery. Ensure needed paperwork is maintained in CareTend according to document key. Ensure accreditation standards/objectives are being followed. Be aware of changing AWP/Costs to ensure optimum reimbursement is obtained. Manage & properly control inventory. Check in daily orders & input into CareTend. Ensure inventory is stored properly. Infusion: Answer phone and assist customers. Intake referrals and process through completion. Faxing referral information to corporate. Input necessary information into Vital Systems for benefits retrieval. Coordinate with home health patient admission and/or labs required and sending orders if needed. Enter orders into CareTend for pharmacist review and delivery ticket generation. Mix IV medication, label and pack supplies. Complete new patient paperwork for admission. Update calendar for maintenance of delivery schedules and coordinate delivery. Document all correspondence in progress notes. Establish and maintain charts to ACHC specifications. Coordinate refills, process through CareTend, update calendar and schedule accordingly. Coordinate with home health concerning order changes, labs, patient updates, nursing notes, etc. Conduct necessary patient follow ups. Maintain and Order IV, enteral and supply stock. Discharge patients when therapy is completed and enter into CareEnds. Maintain and clean the anteroom and cleanrooms following 797 and ACHC guidelines. Maintain documentation in Apollo for all cleaning and technician tasks. Restock all supplies in packing area and clean room. Assist elsewhere in the office as needed. Be willing to do learn new things and take on new responsibilities. Required Skills/Abilities: Good interactive skills with employees, referral sources, supervisors, and consumers. Education and Experience: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be 18 years of age. Completion of pharmacy technician training preferred.
